Tottenham Hotspur vs. Arsenal – EPL, December 6, 2020
This first meeting of the north London giants comes on Sunday, as the Spurs top the league after ten games and Arsenal drifts around the middle of the table after an unconvincing few weeks.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has started to receive some criticism from the Arsenal fans – and he could really do with a derby day win to ease the pressure.
Tottenham Hotspur vs. Arsenal Odds
There is quite a gap between the to win bet odds here from BetOnline – for a usually intense local derby anyway. But Spurs has been the much better of the two this season, and it would take a very good performance from Arsenal to come away from this short trip with three points.
Tottenham Hotspur vs. Arsenal Match Preview
Spurs have already convincingly beaten both Manchester clubs this season and were able to come away from Stamford Bridge with a goalless draw last weekend. Jose Mourinho’s main tactic was to defend deeply, and he was a little lucky to find a Chelsea forward line seemingly without its shooting boots.
But that draw kept the club at the top of the table and looking like it is enjoying itself. Harry Kane is a slight injury worry for this local derby but will surely do everything he can to make himself available. But even without the England captain, Spurs has the players to beat its bitter rival.
Arsenal, on the other hand, will be hoping not to be humiliated against its old foe and perhaps kickstart a much-needed revival. There have been grumblings about Mikel Arteta’s lack of ideas in the last few games – a complete turnaround from the praise he was receiving earlier in the season.
But the criticism is not without justification. The Gunners have only won one of their last five games in the EPL – and have only scored twice during that time. There have been unfortunate injuries to deal with but, after battling so hard to keep him in the summer, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang looks like a disinterested bystander and really needs to get more involved if results are to improve.
Tottenham Hotspur vs. Arsenal Betting Pick
Tottenham Hotspur to Win-104
It is difficult to remember when I was so sure that Spurs would win a north London derby game. The lack of fans will help Arsenal, but even without the partisan support, Tottenham should be able to win this one fairly comfortably. Arsenal – and Arteta – looks bereft of ideas, and even the short odds don’t put me off backing the home side here.
