Top Sleepers for the 2021 NASCAR Jockey Made in America 250

The 2021 NASCAR Cup Series heads to Road America on the 4th of July, the first major race here since 1956.

Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson are the betting favorites to win the race, but I’m turning my attention to the best sleeper picks for the Jockey Made in America 250. I’m looking for the combination of quality and betting value today and will be picking a few drivers I believe can make a mockery of their odds.

So, if it’s sleeper picks, value bets, and the best NASCAR longshots for the Jockey Made in America 250 you are here for, keep reading. I have a few drivers you might be interested in betting on this 4th of July.

Let’s start my sleeper picks for the Jockey Made in America 250 with Alex Bowman.

Ahead of him are Chase Elliott and Martin Truex. 

Now, Kaz Grala’s 7th place finish at the GEICO 500 technically puts him ahead. But given he has just one race on road courses in the Cup Series, we can disregard him. 

If top sleepers to win the Jockey Made in America 250 are your thing, you can’t disregard Bowman. Especially as he already has won at Richmond, Dover, and Pocono this season. 

Bowman’s odds to win at Road America this Sunday are good enough to take. But +650 for a top-3 finish is also pretty chunky. 

Alright, Harvick hasn’t had the best of seasons and is still awaiting his first win.

But I have faith in “The Closer” and believe that his experience could reap big rewards at this track. I mean, he is the defending regular-season Cup Series king and is always capable of winning in the most testing environments. Hence, why he is one of my best Jockey Made in America 250 sleepers.

Still, Harvick is not a good road course driver, right? Well, he’s not in the same league as Chase Elliott, who has six wins from his last 11 races. But he’s hardly bad.

Since February 2018, he has two top-5s, and seven top-10s from 11 starts on RCs. Overall, his average finish within that timeframe is 11.82, making him the sixth-best active driver at road tracks.

At these odds, you would be crazy not to consider Harvick one of the top sleepers/value picks for the 2021 Jockey Made in America 250. At the very least, think about his odds of +800 for a top-3 or +110 for a top-10.

The last of my three sleeper picks for the 2021 Jockey Made in America 250 is Erik Jones.

Once again, the bookies are not too concerned with Jones’ chances in a Cup Series road race. But I think he deserves a lot more respect than he is getting here.

Even if you’re apprehensive about placing some pocket change on Jones to win the race, you can’t deny that +2000 and +290 for a top-3 and a top-10 finish, respectively, don’t look good. 

If you’re betting on Jockey Made in America 250 sleepers, there is an argument to be made in favor of Jones for a top-10 being the wager you shouldn’t pass on.

Look, I get that his record hasn’t been great so far this season, but this is a brand new race on a brand new track. But one that should ultimately favor those with strong records on road courses.

I’d suggest taking Jones for the top-10 at +290.
