Top Esports vs. Fnatic Betting Preview – LoL Worlds, Thursday, October 15, 2020

The group stage of the 2020 LoL Worlds is now over and every single team tasted defeat at least once. Even the biggest favorite Top Esports lost but that didn’t prevent the Chinese squad from taking the top spot and booking a clash against Fnatic.

The Europeans somehow managed to get out of a tough group and will be hoping to upset the odds in the upcoming quarterfinal.

I share my thoughts on their chances in this Top Esports vs. Fnatic betting preview. The post includes the latest lines, my prediction, and a free betting pick.

I don’t think that anyone was surprised to see Top Esports on top of group D. The team dominated the opposition and only allowed one slip-up against FlyQuest. The Chinese squad was simply sublime from a mechanical standpoint and every player looked great.

369 and JackieLove had some insane plays, but the rest of the team wasn’t too far behind. This shockwave by knight is an excellent example of the type of plays we saw by the favorite.

The macro play of Top Esports was also impressive and it’s hard to find a weakness. This team has the talent, chemistry, and confidence to go all the way at the Worlds.

The performance of Fnatic so far has been a mixed bag, but the team did enough to progress to the knockouts. The wins over Gen.G and LDG Gaming certainly showed the squad’s potential and they deliver some sense of optimism before the monumental task of facing Top Esports.

The problem is that Fnatic simply is not on the same level in terms of consistency. Sure, if the Chinese team doesn’t play at its best for a game, the Europeans could one win it. Grabbing a best-of-five series is another story, though, which is why the odds are so one-sided.

Fnatic is a step behind in terms of mechanics and that’s hard to compensate in that format.

I like Fnatic and we’re talking about a team with excellent traditions in the Worlds. The squad has reached the quarterfinals many times and even finished second in 2018. The problem is that Top Esports is just too good this year and I won’t be shocked to see a clean sweep.
