Top Esports vs. FlyQuest Betting Preview – LoL Worlds, Saturday, October 3, 2020

| September 30, 2020 12:33 pm PDT

It’s only fitting that Top Esports opens the LoL Worlds 2020 Main Event. The Chinese team is the big favorite for the title after winning the LPL 2020 Summer Playoffs and will face FlyQuest in the opening match of the schedule on Saturday.

The North American squad had some good moments in 2020, but no one expects wonders against the Asian powerhouse at the start of the biggest League of Legends tournament in the world.

I share my expectations for the upcoming match in this Top Esports vs. FlyQuest betting preview. The post includes the latest odds and lines, my prediction, and a free betting pick.

Top Esports vs. FlyQuest Odds

Top Esports to win-769
FlyQuest to win+440
Top Esports -10.5-112
FlyQuest +10.5-119
Over 27.5-122
Under 27.5-110

The Top Esports vs. FlyQuest odds you see here are offered by BetOnline, one of the best betting sites for LoL out there. The sportsbook has high prices and plenty of markets.

If you are confused by the totals and the handicap, let me remind you that the matches in the group stage are in the best-of-one format. That’s why these two markets apply to the kills we’ll see in the clash.

Top Esports Team Profile

The expectations are high for Top Esports after the last two editions of the LoL World Championship were won by a Chinese squad. That’s the top LPL this season, so everyone expects a deep run and a challenge for the title.

You would struggle to find a weak link in the Top Esports roster and all of the players are among the best mechanically for their position. The team’s drafting and late-game coordination are also on another level, so any squad that wants to prevail over the Chinese champions has to be flawless.

The only potential problem I see in the opening game is the pressure. Top Esports is expected to win comfortably and that might lead to some tension if they don’t start well. And yet, the side has too many advantages and should be able to begin with a victory.

FlyQuest Team Profile

I’m sure that FlyQuest hoped for an easier draw for the LOL Worlds group stage. The team will have to face two of the best Asian squads out there and qualifying for the playoffs looks close to impossible before the start of the tournament.

And yet, FlyQuest was able to beat some of the best North American sides and almost won the LCS Summer Playoffs. Liquid was defeated on the road to the final and FQ barely lost against Team SoloMid.

The squad has some solid fundamentals and should be able to at least put up a fight against Top Esports. Another thing to consider is that the top regions might have lost some of their edge based on what we saw in the Play-In.

Top Esports vs. FlyQuest Betting Pick

I believe that the pressure might get to the heads of both sides, so we might see a lackluster opener by Top Esports and FlyQuest. I expect to see a safer approach early on, so the price of -110 for under 27.5 kills looks solid.

We saw plenty of patient games with few kills in the Play-In and another one on Saturday makes a lot of sense.
