Top Betting Picks and Predictions for MLS Games on Sunday, February 27, 2022

We have five Major League Soccer games to bet on this Sunday, February 27, as the 2022 MLS season gets underway. There are several heavy hitters on the schedule, including 2021 MLS Cup winner New York City FC.
Before I begin with my MLS predictions for Sunday, I think we should take a look at all the matchups.
- Orlando City vs. CF Montreal
- Atlanta United vs. Sporting Kansas City
- LA Galaxy vs. New York City FC
- Houston Dynamo vs. Real Salt Lake
- Seattle Sounders vs. Nashville SC
Not only will I be providing my predictions for Sunday’s MLS games, but I will also share my recommended MLS picks. I have scoured the top Major League Soccer betting sites to find the best MLS bets for Sunday.
Let’s kick things off with my Orlando City vs. CF Montreal prediction and work our way through the rest.
CF Montreal to Beat Orlando City
Unlike the majority of MLS teams, Montreal has enjoyed some competitive action in the lead-up to the new season. On Wednesday, the Canadians claimed a hugely impressive 3-0 victory over Liga MX side Santos Laguna in the CONCACAF Champions League.
Although Wilfried Nancy’s men finished tenth in the Eastern Conference last year – five points behind sixth-place Orlando – they will be confident winning this weekend after dispatching Santos in midweek.
Having booked their spot in the quarter-finals of the CONCACAF Champions League, Montreal will be brimming with belief. I can see the Canadians building on their triumph over Santos by seeing off Orlando on Sunday.
Atlanta United to Beat Sporting Kansas City
I’m expecting big things from Atlanta United this season. Earlier this month, the Five Stripes dropped a whopping $16 million on Argentine prodigy Thiago Almada – bolstering a roster that already features stars such as Josef Martinez, Luiz Araujo, and Marcelino Moreno.
Atlanta boasted the highest average attendance by a considerable margin last year. With roughly 50,000 fans expected at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Sunday, the Five Stripes should thrive on the home-field advantage.
LA Galaxy and New York City FC to Draw
Although the Bronx Blues secured the 2021 MLS Cup, they were not the most consistent team last season. Not only did they finish fourth in the Eastern Conference, but they also lost more games than five sides.
I can see this clash ending in a draw. The Galaxy and NYCFC both scored and conceded a ton of goals last season, so I expect them to produce an exciting game.
Real Salt Lake to Beat Houston Dynamo
It’s safe to say that Real Salt Lake was the surprise package of the previous campaign. Very few people expected RSL to achieve anything last season, but they ended up making it all the way to the Western Conference final.
RSL’s roster is stacked with exciting young players, namely goalkeeper David Ochoa. Let’s not forget that Damir Kreilach starred last season, too, racking up 16 goals and nine assists to finish third on the goal involvements leaderboard.
I’m backing the Utahns to pick up where they lost off last year by seeing off Houston on Sunday.
Seattle Sounders and Nashville SC to Draw
Last season, the Sounders recorded their fifth straight second-place finish in the Western Conference – emphasizing their consistency. In 2022, they will aim to reach their fifth MLS Cup final in seven years.
Due to Charlotte FC’s arrival in the East, Nashville will compete in the West this season. I expect the Boys in Gold to give a good account of themselves in the West, starting with a draw against Seattle.
Best MLS Bets for Sunday, February 27
In my eyes, Atlanta now boasts one of the strongest rosters in Major League Soccer. With Almada joining the likes of Martinez, Arujo, and Moreno, the Five Stripes look set to enjoy plenty of success against SKC.
Last season, 22 of the Galaxy’s 34 games produced over 2.5 goals – that’s 65%! Greg Vanney’s men were among the top scorers in the West, but they also had one of the worst defensive records.
At the opposite end of the spectrum, no teams conceded fewer goals than Seattle and Nashville last season. They finished the previous campaign with the joint-best defensive record, so their meeting is destined to be a low-scoring affair.
