Titans vs. Rams DFS Picks for Sunday Night Football – Week 9, 2021

| November 5, 2021 12:14 pm PDT

My last batch of NFL DFS picks for a Showdown slate panned out nicely. I took a look at Thursday’s slate, handing out a stud contrarian Captain in Elijah Moore, and also hit on Jonathan Taylor and Michael Pittman.

Mike White got hurt and I wasn’t on Carson Wentz, but if you used my NFL DFS picks, you probably cashed.

The aim is to do something similar again for Sunday Night Football in week nine. The SNF is a good one between the Titans and Rams, but thanks to Derrick Henry getting hurt, it’s tough to know what to make of it.

If you plan on betting on it, be sure to check out Dan Vasta’s Titans vs. Rams betting pick. For NFL DFS advice, check out my favorite picks, sleepers, and free lineup for the week.

Best SNF DFS Captain Picks for Week 9

  • Matthew Stafford, QB, Rams ($19.2k)
  • Cooper Kupp, WR, Rams ($18.6k)
  • A.J. Brown, WR, Titans ($15.3k)
  • Jeremy McNichols, RB, Titans ($11.7k)

Stafford is egregiously priced here, but he’s one of two players averaging over 25 fantasy points in this contest. One would think Cooper Kupp would be pricier, but either way, both guys are Captain options, and it’s pretty arguable fading them would be a mistake.

Their salaries do demand you look elsewhere at Captain, though. A.J. Brown is a solid start. He’s still the third most expensive player – and he’ll likely see a lot of Jalen Ramsey – but he offers as much upside as anyone.

Brown could be extra busy should Julio Jones still be unavailable, as well.

McNichols looks pretty good here, too. He’s the seventh priciest player, but his value may hinge on how you see this game playing out. Most sports betting sites have the Rams as 8-point favorites at home, and it remains to be seen what the Titans will do sans Derrick Henry.

Here’s further analysis on the Titans’ new backfield

That said, if the Titans are to be trailing, McNichols could be very active as a receiver. Even if they’re ahead, it’s pretty likely that McNichols is part of the ground game plan. Trusting a 36-year old Adrian Peterson to get all of the touches after less than a week with the team feels like a reach.

Fantasy Football Sleepers for SNF

  • Adrian Peterson, RB, Titans ($4.5k)
  • Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, WR, Titans ($3.3k)
  • Ben Skowronek, WR, Rams ($1.5k)
  • Marcus Johnson, WR, Titans ($1.2k)

While I don’t exactly trust “All Day” in his first game as a member of the Titans, he’s already been promoted from the practice squad, and it’s just him and Nichols back there.

At this price, you can take a crack at Peterson plunging in a score or two, or even succeeding based on sheer volume. Of course, there are a lot of negatives to consider.

Peterson is also ancient. Banking on the Titans just running him until the wheels fall off could be reckless, but like I said, there is value to be had here if things break just right.

It may be wiser to just target value at wide receiver. Julio Jones has been missing time, and now Robert Woods is banged up, too.

One or both of these guys sitting out Sunday Night Football would open up a lot of snaps. NWI, Skowronek, Marcus Johnson, and possibly others would suddenly have a path to the field.

Due to price and potential opportunity, the guy I’m most interested in has to be Skowronek. He already hauled in three catches for 30 yards last week, and now DeSean Jackson is gone.

If Woods is also ultimately ruled out, he could be a fun punt to help pay for the studs in this contest.

Top Sunday Night Football DFS Lineup

  • CAPTAIN: Jeremy McNichols, RB, Titans ($11.7k)
  • FLEX: Cooper Kupp, WR, Rams ($12.4k)
  • FLEX: Chester Rogers, WR, Titans ($1.8k)
  • FLEX: Ben Skowronek, WR, Rams ($1k)
  • FLEX: A.J. Brown, WR, Titans ($10.2k)
  • FLEX: Matthew Stafford, QB, Rams ($12.8k)

I think you need to pay for the Stafford/Kupp pairing in some capacity. The teams I get with them as my Captains aren’t amazing, though, so I’ll just use them in Flex spots.

Brown feels like a must, as well. The matchup isn’t great, but with the Titans likely playing from behind – and given how explosive he can be – I’ll take my chances.

McNichols is my Captain for the moment, and I will be fading Adrian Peterson. Peterson really only has value if I believe the Titans are playing with a lead, and I doubt that’s the case.

We saw McNichols haul in eight catches against the Jets, so the PPR upside is there. With Peterson potentially a non-factor due to game flow and/or familiarity with the offense, I think we see a ton of McNichols.

The departure of D-Jax makes Skowronek an option. Robert Woods being out or limited would help even more, but he’s a great way to save cash, and he was involved in his last game.

Rogers is my last guy in. I don’t feel particularly amazing about him, but if Julio Jones is out, he’s in play.
