Thursday’s Tennis Betting Predictions (October 22, 2020)

The tennis schedule for this week includes several interesting tournaments on hard courts. Both the ATP and the WTA are in action which opens the door to plenty of interesting betting opportunities almost every day of the week and October 22 is not an exception.

I share my tennis predictions and betting picks for Thursday in this post. I’ve selected several recommended wagers based on the latest odds and my analysis.

The American teen sensation Cori Gauff has earned a place in the Ostrava Open main draw after two wins in the qualifiers and kept it going with another victory over Katerina Siniakova in the first round.

Gauff is about to face the third seed Aryna Sabalenka next and most people expect a victory for the Belarusian. I’m not so sure about that because the teenager has been excellent so far in the tournament and defeated the same opponent in their only previous clash earlier this year.

It was a gruesome match that went the distance and I won’t be shocked to see something similar this week. The top betting sites offer a price of -110 or so for the encounter to last over 21.5 games and that looks like one of the best tennis picks for Thursday.

The wager would certainly win if there are three sets played and it could be successful even in two.

I might surprise few people with my next tennis prediction but I believe that Daria Kasatkina could beat Jennifer Brady. The American reached the semifinals of the 2020 US Open which helped her climb the WTA rankings and get direct access to bigger tournaments.

And yet, she has failed to deliver impressive results since and has been beaten early in most competitions. Brady was almost knocked out in the opening round of the WTA Ostrava too when Dayana Yastremska put her under a lot of pressure.

The American eventually held her composure to win the clash by 2-1 sets, but she looked vulnerable for most of the match.

I expect a similar story against Kasatkina who surprised the sixth seed Elena Rybakina in the first round. The Russian served well which was the key to success and I believe she will put up a fight against Brady.

The odds for the underdog are around the +188 mark and that’s insane. The match should be much closer than that, so I believe that backing Kasatkina is one of the best tennis bets on Thursday.

The Italian teenager Jannik Sinner stormed the tennis world during the 2020 French Open and he seems determined to keep up the pace. The youngster started ATP Cologne 2 with a devastating victory over James Duckworth.

He faces French qualifier Piere-Hugues Herbert next and it’s hard to expect anything but a victory for Sinner. He is way more talented and his opponent is mostly a doubles specialist who has struggled to impose himself in the singles events.

Sinner should have the upper hand and the price of -110 or so for the favorite to cover the -4.5 games handicap makes the most sense.
