Three Head-to-Head Picks at the 2020 Andalucia Masters

| September 1, 2020 12:35 pm PDT

With an exciting week at Valderrama in store, it’s time to lock in some predictions. My theory when it comes to betting on matchups is to fiercely attack the underdogs when I spot price discrepancies.

After a bit of browsing, I’ve on landed on a trio of Andalucia Masters head-to-head picks.

The best part is you can place all three of these H2H bets without laying a single penny of juice.

Andy Sullivan vs. Thomas Detry

Andy Sullivan+100
Thomas Detry-120

I like Thomas Detry this week at a golf course he has played well at in the past, but I like Andy Sullivan a wee bit more. In fact, the 34-year-old Englishman is my Andalucia Masters pick to win at +1400.

Detry is listed at an identical price to hoist the hardware, so the value built into backing Andy at even money in this matchup is quite blatant.

Sullivan’s deft touch around the greens should help him prosper at one of the toughest layouts on the European circuit.

Craig Howie vs. Jeff Winther

Craig Howie+140
Jeff Winther-160

I was all set to jump on Craig Howie at +125 in this matchup against Jeff Winther. A bit of scoping led me to MyBookie, and that’s where I uncovered Howie at +140 versus Winther.

Showcasing the Scotsman as an Andalucia Masters sleeper sheds light on the state of his game, and boy is this lad hot. Closing out the UK swing by finishing 21st at Celtic Manor and 5th at The Belfry means Craig comes storming into Valderrama dripping with confidence.

Flip the coin and Jeff Winther has shot over par in six of his last eight rounds, plus he missed the cut last year in Sotogrande. All in all, backing Howie at +140 is a sensible Andalucia Masters head-to-head pick.

Sean Crocker vs. Justin Harding

Sean Crocker+105
Justin Harding-125

If you look at Sean Crocker and Justin Harding’s last four starts, the same four golf tournaments pop up. Rather than explain how much better Crocker has performed during the stretch, use the table below to see the evidence for yourself.

Tournament Sean Crocker Justin Harding
ISPS HANDA Wales Open 37th 44th
Celtic Classic 22nd 47th
English Championship 9th 53rd
Hero Open 15th MC

Yet for some reason, one of the best golf sportsbooks online deemed Harding the favorite. I’m not wasting much time overthinking this one, especially with the clear-cut value that’s apparent. Crocker is -105 versus Harding at BetOnline, making his +105 price tag at XBet all the more savory.
