Thistledown Racino Picks – Monday, September 21, 2020

| September 20, 2020 11:48 pm PDT

Thistledown Racino has an eight-race schedule of claiming and allowance races for Monday. Spectators can expect the last day of summer in North Randall, Ohio to be sunny, with highs in the upper 60s and winds around nine mph.

Read on for my Monday tips, predictions, and picks for Thistledown Racino.

Pick for Thistledown Racino Race 2

This is a maiden special weight race for three-year-olds and upward running a distance of six furlongs for a purse of $20,000.

I like the 5/2 morning line favorite—Mjolnir, with Ricardo Feliciano in the irons. This five-year-old gelding moneyed six of his 14 career starts, which gives him the most impressive record in this field.

By the way, the longest odds in this race are 8/1, but despite T. D. Houghton’s skills, I don’t see Fort Minerva seeing a payday here.

  • Win: Mjolnir 5/2

Picks for Thistledown Racino Race 5

This is an  allowance race for three-year-olds and upward running a distance of one mile for a purse of $23,000.

I like the second-favored (3/1) entry here—Going With Style, ridden by Angel Serpa. This four-year-old gelding finished in the money eight of his nine career starts, winning four of them.

I see a trifecta here: Going With Style, Chief Randal, and Bucket Beat. Chief Randal is the morning line favorite in this race, and Bucket Beat is the fourth-favored; the two are ridden by Fernando Becerra and Erik Barbaran, respectively.

  • Win: Going With Style 3/1
  • Trifecta: Going With Style, Chief Randal, Bucket Beat (5-1-6)

Pick for Thistledown Racino Race 7

This is an allowance race for three-year-olds and upward  running a distance of one mile and 40 yards for a purse of $21,500.

A lot of talent in the irons for this race, and I’m sticking with the 5/2 morning line favorite—Candy Exchange, with Ricardo Feliciano aboard. This five-year-old gelding finished in the money 19 of his 35 career starts, winning eight of them.

I see no longer-odds entries in this race that might see a paycheck at the finish line.

  • Win: Candy Exchange 5/2
