Thistledown Racino Picks – Tuesday, October 13, 2020

| October 12, 2020 2:44 pm PDT

The eight-race card of claiming, and allowance matches at Thistledown Racino today bring us plenty of opportunities to make some long-odds profits as well as a few potential upsets for the winner’s circle.

If you can’t attend in person (Thistledown permits spectators), you can find Thistledown’s entire eight-race card for Tuesday with a visit to one of our top online racebooks.

Read on for my Thistledown Racino picks and betting tips.

Pick for Thistledown Racino Race 5

This is an allowance race for fillies and mares three years old and upward running a distance of six furlongs for a purse of $23,000.

I like the second-favored (7/2) entry in this race: Dark Temptress, ridden by Luan Machado. This three-year-old filly moneyed four of her five career starts, winning two of them. More importantly, she did all that in 2020, while the favorite has only moneyed twice this year.

Longest odds in this allowance race are 12/1, and I don’t see that happening, so save your show ticket money for later.

  • Win: Dark Temptress 7/2

Picks for Thistledown Racino Race 6

This is an allowance race for fillies and mares three years old and upward running a distance of one mile for a purse of $21,500.

I’m backing the 5/2 morning line favorite in this race—Dyna’s Holiday, with Ricardo Feliciano in the irons. This three-year-old filly moneyed five of her seven career starts, winning two of them.

The longest M/L odds in this race are 8/1 on Little Matilda, with Luis R. Rivera aboard. This four-year-old filly moneyed ten of her 18 career starts, winning five of them. If you’re anxious to make a show bet, here’s your chance for a modest paycheck. Otherwise, keep it in your wallet for more lucrative odds.

  • Win: Dyna’s Holiday 5/2
  • Show: Little Matilda 8/1

Picks for Thistledown Racino Race 7

This is an allowance optional claiming race for three-year-olds and upward running a distance of 5-1/2 furlongs for a purse of $24,300.

My win ticket is on the 6/1 underdog Buckeye Bullet, with veteran jockey Erik Barbaran in the irons. This seven-year-old gelding moneyed 16 of his 20 career starts, winning ten of them.

At 10/1, I like Mr. Pete, ridden by Jose A. Bracho, for a value show ticket. This five-year-old gelding finished in the money 23 of his 31 career starts, winning nine of them. Against any other field, I might recommend an across-the-board here, but not for this race.

  • Win: Buckeye Bullet 6/1
  • Show: Mr. Pete 10/1
