The Masters Tournament Picks in 2022 – PGA Tour Predictions

It’s the most exciting time of the season for the PGA Tour. Augusta National will host the Masters for the 86th time. This marks the first of four majors, but the Masters carries extra weight. Every golfer wants to wear the Green Jacket on Sunday night.
This isn’t a tournament you spent a week prepping for. Golfers spent weeks, if not months preparing for the Masters. Whose preparation will pay off the most?
Let’s check out my top picks for the 2022 Masters Tournament, with odds courtesy of Bovada.
Value Picks for the Masters Tournament
We’ve seen long shots surprise everyone with a Masters victory. Check out my favorite value selections for the 2022 Masters Tournament.
Justin Rose (+8000)
Justin Rose is coming off three straight finishes of 62nd or worse. However, he has a pair of top 10 finishes this season. That’s why it’s surprising to see the top golf betting sites give Rose such high odds.
Rose has five top 10 finishes in his Masters career. He had a few close calls, but nothing closer than 2017.
- First Round: 71 (-1)
- Second Round: 72 (E)
- Third Round: 67 (-5)
- Fourth Round: 69 (-3)
A great performance on the weekend put Rose in a playoff with Sergio Garcia. Rose bogeyed the first playoff hole, while Garcia’s birdie earned him his first career major. Last year, Rose found himself back in contention.
Rose held a four-shot lead after shooting a seven-under 65 in the first round. Rose couldn’t build on that round, shooting two-over in the next three rounds. Still, he managed to finish seventh.
It’s hard to believe you can find someone like Rose with this much value. He isn’t the golfer he once was, but he’s capable of competing for wins. It wouldn’t surprise me if he did that this week.
Webb Simpson (+15000)
Webb Simpson had three top 20 finishes before he missed two months with a neck injury. We haven’t seen the same level of play since his return. Simpson has finished outside the top 45 in three straight starts, but that should end at Augusta National.
Simpson wasn’t a factor in the Masters early in his career. He finished in a tie for 20th in the 2018 Masters, and that seemed to change his Masters fortunes. Check out his last three finishes in the tournament.
- 2019: -11 (5th)
- 2020: -9 (10th)
- 2021: -2 (12th)
Simpson was a non-factor going into the weekend in 2019, but an eight-under 64 vaulted him to the top. He birdied three of his last six holes but fell two shots short. We haven’t seen another performance like that, but he consistently puts up good numbers at Augusta National.
It’ll be interesting to see how he does in the second round. For some reason, that round has given him trouble in the Masters. He has only shot under par once in ten second rounds at Augusta National.
He’ll probably have to change that if he wants to compete for the Green Jacket.
Best Masters Betting Picks
It’s fun to check out the potential long shot winners, but the Masters champion will likely be one of the favorites. Check out my favorite betting picks for the 2022 Masters.
Dustin Johnson (+1600)
We haven’t seen much of Dustin Johnson on the PGA Tour this season. He only has five starts, with his best finish being a ninth at THE PLAYERS Championship. I wouldn’t let his lack of starts stop you from betting on him in the Masters.
Johnson missed the 2017 Masters, but he finished 10th or better in every Masters from 2015 to 2020. That includes a record-breaking performance in the 2020 Masters.
- First Round: 65 (-7)
- Second Round: 70 (-2)
- Third Round: 65 (-7)
- Fourth Round: 68 (-4)
He ran away from the field, winning by five shots. His 20-under score is the lowest 72-hole score in Masters history. It stands out as one of the best Masters performances of all time.
Johnson nearly entered the 2020 Masters aiming for back-to-back Masters victories. He birdied four of the last six holes in the 2019 Masters to finish one shot behind Tiger Woods.
Two more top-six finishes play into Johnson being one of the top picks for the 2022 Masters. He should be in contention for another Green Jacket.
Jordan Spieth (+2000)
Jordan Spieth’s 2021-22 season hasn’t been as strong as he’d like. Spieth finished second in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, but that’s his only top 15 finish in nine events. Even so, there’s no way I could not include Spieth among my top picks at Augusta National.
Spieth showed up at Augusta National and had immediate success. He finished second in his first start but redeemed that close defeat in 2015.
- First Round: 64 (-8)
- Second Round: 66 (-6)
- Third Round: 70 (-2)
- Fourth Round: 70 (-2)
Spieth went wire to wire to win the 2015 Masters. He put together a historic performance, setting a Masters record with 28 birdies. A bogey on the final hole prevented him from breaking the 72-hole record.
He was on his way to back-to-back victories, but Spieth imploded on the par 3 12th in the final round. He finished second, three shots behind Danny Willet.
Spieth nearly pulled off a big final round comeback in 2018. He shot an eight-under 64, finishing two shots behind Patrick Reed. Will Spieth score his fifth top-three finish at Augusta National?
Whether you go with these bets or not, there’s plenty to think about before betting on the 2022 Masters. Check out this guide for a little extra help.
Predicting Who Wins the 2022 Masters Tournament
There are many great golfers in the Masters, but it’s hard to find any that match Jordan Spieth’s success. He showed up at Augusta National in 2014 and established himself as a top contender.
We haven’t quite seen the same recently, but I can’t go against him in the Masters Tournament. I’m counting on Spieth to win his second Master Tournament and fourth major.
