Texas Rangers vs. Seattle Mariners – MLB, September 7, 2020

The Texas Rangers and Seattle Mariners will close down their four-game series at T-Mobile Park in Seattle on Monday afternoon. Also, it would be their final encounter of the regular season, and the Mariners have won six of the first eight.
Seattle beat Texas 6-3 and 5-3 in the first two games of this series. The 17-22 Mariners were third in the AL West on Sunday, trailing just 3.5 games behind the bottom wild card in the American League.
On the other side, the 13-25 Rangers were sitting bottom of the AL West standings and seven games behind the playoff spot.
While the Rangers will almost certainly miss the postseason, the Mariners are still alive, but they desperately need a win on Monday. Hereof, I bring you the best Rangers vs. Mariners betting pick, while you can get more baseball tips and analysis on our daily predictions page.
Rangers vs. Mariners Odds
BET | ODDS |
Rangers +1.5 | -155 |
Mariners -1.5 | +145 |
Rangers to Win | +125 |
Mariners to Win | -135 |
Over 8.5 | -105 |
Under 8.5 | -115 |
The Mariners dominated the Rangers in 2020, so -135 on the hosts is a fair price. Also, keep in mind this is a very important game for Seattle, while Texas is pretty much in dire straits.
I don’t expect to see any major changes in these odds, but you never know what can happen until the first pitch at 4:10 PM ET.
Rangers vs. Mariners Preview
The Rangers’ lousy offense scores the fewest runs in the majors, averaging only 3.61 per game. Texas is dead last in batting average (.213) and slugging percentage (.345), too.
On the other side, the Mariners average 4.28 runs per contest (22nd in the MLB). They are 22nd in batting average (.233) and 25th in slugging percentage (.382).
Kolby Allard will toe the slab for the Rangers on Monday, and the 23-year-old southpaw is 0-4 with a 5.40 ERA and 1.28 WHIP in six starts this season. He’s on a four-game losing streak, but Allard pitched well last Wednesday, allowing a couple of runs and hits in seven innings of work against the Astros.
Allard is 1-1 with an 8.53 ERA in a pair of starts against Seattle in his career.
Marco Gonzales will take the hill for the Mariners, and the 28-year-old lefty is coming off a complete game this past Monday. The Mariners beat the Angels 2-1, and Marco allowed four hits and a walk while punching out eight.
Gonzales is 4-2 with a 3.09 ERA and 0.92 WHIP on the season. He’s 5-5 with a 3.98 ERA in 11 career starts against Texas.
Rangers vs. Mariners Betting Pick
I don’t like betting on bad teams to win, but the Mariners have to step up if they want to stay in the playoff race. They will send their top ace to the mound, and Marco Gonzales has been pretty consistent in 2020.
Gonzales meets the worst offense in baseball, so I have to take the hosts to win at -135. Allard, on the other side, has had a lot of ups and downs this term, so the Mariners’ offense has a nice opportunity to score some runs in this contest.
