Picks for the Tennessee Lottery 250 – Xfinity Series (2022)
The Xfinity Series is back in action following two off weeks. It was a few weeks ago, but I correctly predicted A.J. Allmendinger winning at Portland.
Because of the off weeks, the Xfinity Series will race on an oval for the first time since late May. Will there be any rust for Xfinity Series drivers?
Nashville Superspeedway will host this Saturday’s race. My Tennessee Lottery 250 predictions don’t have much data as last year was the first Xfinity race at Nashville since 2011. How will that impact your NASCAR betting picks?
Justin Allgaier (+600)
Justin Allgaier had a rough stretch in the middle of the season, but he enters Nashville with five straight finishes of seventh or better. It would be five consecutive top-five finishes if not for a late flat tire at Charlotte.
Allgaier scored his first victory of 2022 at Darlington, and it’s only a matter of time before he scores another victory. It wouldn’t surprise me if that happened at Nashville.
My NASCAR predictions have Allgaier at the top because of his performance in last year’s race.
- Starting Position: 11th
- Finishing Position: 2nd
- Laps Led: 11 of 189
- Driver Rating: 120.4 (2nd)
It was essentially a battle for second, as Kyle Busch had the field covered. Allgaier finished second while holding the second-best driver rating and average finish. Busch won’t be in this year’s race, putting Allgaier in a good spot.
The Tennessee Lottery 250 betting odds have Allgaier as one of the top contenders. That’s a combination of his recent stretch and performance at Nashville.
My NASCAR picks have high hopes for Allgaier at Nashville. He has been on the verge of his second victory in 2022. Can he close the deal at Nashville?
Josh Berry (+700)
Josh Berry’s season is comparable to Justin Allgaier. He had a great start before enduring a rough stretch. Berry finished outside the top 10 in four of five races.
Berry has looked much better in the last five races. He has two victories and four top 10 finishes in that stretch. That bodes well for my Tennessee Lottery 250 picks.
Last year’s Nashville race is the best comparison for my NASCAR picks, but we’ve also heard Dover is a good representation. Berry’s performance at Dover is significant for his hopes of a Nashville victory.
Berry outlasted Allgaier, leading the final 55 laps to score his first victory of the season. Allgaier had the upper hand in last year’s Nashville race, but Berry was a top contender.
He started 22nd and it took him a while to make it to the front. Berry had enough speed to score a top-five finish. Between that and his Dover victory, my Tennessee Lottery 250 picks have much confidence in Berry.
We can argue he has been the hottest driver in the Xfinity Series. He had a rough performance at Darlington, but that’s his only poor finish in the last five races.
A.J Allmendinger (+900)
There is an unwritten rule that your NASCAR betting picks always include A.J. Allmendinger for road courses races. I followed that rule at Portland, and Allmendinger overcame issues to win the inaugural Xfinity Series race at Portland.
Allmendinger has been a model of consistency in 2022. A flat tire at Charlotte led to his only finish worse than ninth in 14 races. The Tennessee Lottery 250 odds believe we’ll see another strong performance.
Take a look at his finish in last year’s Nashville race and the 2022 Dover race.
- Nashville: 5th
- Dover: 6th
Allmendinger didn’t exhibit race-winning speed in either race, but his consistency earned him a strong finish. He’ll need a little more speed to score his first victory on a non-road course in 2022.
His performance in last year’s race helps earn him a spot in my Tennessee Lottery 250 prediction. Ultimately, I’m backing Allmendinger because of his 2022 consistency. We should see that continue on Saturday.
Can Allmendinger battle Josh Berry and Justin Allgaier? He may not match their speed, but I wouldn’t count him out. Last year’s race featured a big crash that took out a few top contenders.
Allmendinger is always there in the closing laps.
Brandon Jones (+1000)
It’s always interesting to include Brandon Jones in my NASCAR predictions. It’s rare to see him have race-winning speed, but he’s one of those drivers that finds himself in the right place at the right time.
Jones took advantage of late-race carnage to score his lone victory of the season at Martinsville. He only has two top 10 finishes in his last six races, but my free Tennessee Lottery 250 picks have him as a sleeper.
He had a respectable performance in last year’s Nashville race. Jones finished top 10 in both stages, scoring a sixth-place finish. His average finish and driver rating ranked top-five.
Jones backed it up with a strong performance at Dover. He started on the pole, leading 59 laps. Jones finished top-five in both stages before scoring a seventh-place finish.
He likely won’t have race-winning speed, but his potential makes him a strong option at (+1000). My expert Tennessee Lottery 250 picks value his speed at Nashville and Dover.
Can he break through to score his second victory of 2022? It’d go a long way towards strengthening his playoff position.
Who Will Win the Tennessee Lottery 250?
I’m expecting a battle between Justin Allgaier and Josh Berry at Nashville, but my Tennessee Lottery 250 predictions have Allgaier scoring the victory.
These drivers battled at Dover and Charlotte, with Berry winning both races. It’s about time Allgaier comes out on the winning end of the battle. He doesn’t present as much value, but I like his chances of winning at Nashville.
Xfinity Series coverage shifts to NBC/USA for the remainder of the season. Fans can watch Saturday’s race at 3:30 p.m. ET on USA. Head over to the top NASCAR betting sites to wager on the action.
