Team Liquid vs. TeamOne Betting Pick – Friday, August 14th, 2020

| August 14, 2020 12:49 am PDT

Today’s late semi-final in the North American division of the 2020 Summer DreamHack Open pins together Liquid and TeamOne.

The Americans’ new roster has got off to a flying start at the event but the Brazillian squad has defied all odds to reach the playoffs and shouldn’t be underestimated.

Can we expect b4rtin and company to stage another huge surprise here?

You will find my Team Liquid vs. TeamOne betting pick for today at the end of this post, but first, let’s take a look at the current odds and how the teams have performed so far.

Team Liquid vs. TeamOne Odds

I have chosen for this tie as their sportsbook regularly rolls out the most competitive prices and diverse market selections.

Here is what the betting site has in store for us today:

Match Winner

Team Liquid -2000
TeamOne +800

Map Advantage

Team Liquid (-1.5) -278
TeamOne (+1.5) +210

Total Maps Played

Over 2.5 +241
Under 2.5 -333

With the way Team Liquid has started the tournament, it was expected that they will be given a huge nod here.

Let’s see if the Brazilians can realistically upset the odds one more time and proceed with my final prediction for this crunch matchup.

Team Liquid

The Americans made big changes to their structure prior to the DreamHack and they are already looking far more solid than they were a month ago.

Grim’s arrival has given a new dimension to the squad which has allowed the experienced players like Stewie2k, EliGE, and Twistzz to play their roles with much more freedom.

Their new addition was by far the best player when they took down Ze Pug Godz in the first fixture and had another positive outing against Chaos in Group A’s Winners’ Match.

Grim seems to be able to play any role and his team-first mentality is already proving he can be quite an asset for the organization.

On top of that, bringing in long-time commentator Moses as head coach seems to have already had a positive effect on the mentality of the group.

Liquid has been its own worst enemy from quite some time now but the early signs from the changes are quite encouraging and the team will be desperate to keep the good run going today.

What can we say about these guys?

They were the lowest-ranked team coming into the tournament and nobody was expecting they can put up a fight against the likes of Cloud9 and FURIA.

However, their organized and spirited approach caught Cloud9 off-guard and they managed to overcome them twice and book a place in the playoffs.

In between these two triumphs, TeamOne stood tall against the relentless FURIA and even took them down on the Brazilians’ map pick with a 16:9 scoreline.

Rifle specialist b4rtin has been the star performer but we should also give huge credit to captain Maluk3’s ability to rally his troops and get them to follow his tactics.

It’s hard to predict how far this roster can go since they haven’t got a lot of experience at this level but recent results have proven that they can take full advantage if their opponents allow themselves a drop in concentration.

Team Liquid vs. TeamOne Prediction and Pick

As much as I’ve loved watching TeamOne take the fight to the likes of Cloud9 and FURIA, I feel this is the end of the road for them.

Liquid look completely revitalized after adding Grim and Moses to the fold and their performances in the 2:0 wins against Chaos and Ze Pug Godz looked scary at times.

Their new player can not only get a solid kill count against any opponent but his willingness to sacrifice for the team has allowed in-game leader Stewie2k and gunmen EliGE, and Twistzz to finally take a bit more risk in the decisive moments.

The Americans have always had elite quality but it looks like they are now on the path to unlocking the full potential of this roster and TeamOne should go down as their next victim.

The Brazilians’ run was impressive but we are in the big boys’ domain now and they are bound to feel the pressure.

As usual, Stewie will probably be waving Train and while TeamOne can do some damage on Dust II and Mirage, I find it hard to believe that a Top 10 team will allow them the same space as the lackluster Cloud9.

This should be another 2:0 win for Liquid and the value is with the handicap odds for the favorites.

  • Team Liquid (-1.5)
