Sydney FC vs. Melbourne Victory – A-League, May 19, 2021
We have two A-League games to look forward to this Wednesday, May 19, as Sydney FC hosts Melbourne Victory in the early kick-off.
It is no secret that Sydney FC has completely dominated the “Big Blue” in recent times, clinching seven straight wins over Victory. Looking at the current A-League ladder, Steve Corica’s men should extend their winning streak to eight matches.

Sydney FC vs. Melbourne Victory Odds
Given that Sydney FC (1.32) has already beaten Victory (8.00) twice in the past couple of months, it is no real surprise that 10bet views the home side as the clear favorite to win again on Wednesday.
After losing 3-0 at the beginning of April, Victory pushed the Sky Blues all the way a few weeks later. Still, Steve Kean’s men were unable to avoid a 1-0 defeat.
Let’s take closer look at the teams.
Assessing Sydney FC’s Recent Form
The defending champions have all but secured a top-six finish thanks to an impressive run of just one loss in 11 games across March and April.
However, Corica’s side has since taken four points from a possible six and has quickly forgotten about the loss in the Syndey Derby.
After drawing with Newcastle, the Sky Blues returned to winning ways against Western United on Saturday. Adam Le Fondre marked his return to the club in style, scoring the only goal of the game from the penalty spot.
Le Fondre clinched the A-League Golden Boot last term, netting 21 goals in 26 regular-season appearances. Following a successful loan spell with Indian Super League side Mumbai City, the Englishman is back to wreak havoc in Australia.
Funnily enough, Le Fondre has scored five goals in his last four appearances against Victory.
Melbourne Victory Team News and Analysis
Having endured a terrible season, Victory managed to claim two wins and two draws in a resurgent seven-game run between late March and early May. However, it didn’t take Steve Kean’s men very long to return to their old ways.
Following two losses to Macarthur, along with a defeat to Perth, the fallen giant heads into Wednesday’s clash on a three-match losing streak.
Victory’s last win over Sydney FC came back in January 2019. Since then, the Boys in Blue have suffered seven consecutive defeats in this fixture – conceding 21 goals along the way (averaging three goals per game).
Kean’s men can take confidence from their previous Big Blue performance. They racked up 13 shots against Sydney FC last month, although they were unable to find a way through.
My Sydney FC vs. Victory Betting Pick
Sydney FC to Win1.32
At the end of the day, anything other than a Sydney FC win would be a massive shock here. The gulf in quality between these two sides is vast at the moment, so I can’t see Victory upsetting the odds on Wednesday.
With Le Fondre back in the team and a Finals Series berth in sight, the Sky Blues should claim a comfortable win over struggling Victory.
