Sheffield United vs. Liverpool – EPL, February 28, 2021
Only one of these two sides has won a game this month in the EPL – and anyone who has not been keeping up with England’s top flight would probably be surprised to discover that it is not Liverpool.
The champions are enduring their worst run of results at Anfield for almost 100 years and will be quite glad of playing away from home this Sunday. A first win this month would make Jurgen Klopp even happier.
Sheffield United vs. Liverpool Odds
These odds from BetOnline for Sheffield United to beat a Liverpool side that has only won twice since the middle of December and currently sits in sixth place would seem quite attractive until you look at the home team’s record. The Blades are odds on to go down and will face a Liverpool desperate to put the last month behind it.
Sheffield United vs. Liverpool Match Preview
The final whistle of the game against Fulham last weekend essentially confirmed Sheffield United’s relegation this season. There have been some better performances and results recently, but the 1-0 defeat against one of the teams at the foot of the table showed that there just isn’t enough in the team this year.
There was a curious lack of determination and spirit in the Sheffield United team at Craven Cottage – especially compared to the way the side played last season. It is now 14 points from safety and can only hope for a calamitous run of results from other teams to stay up.
Blades manager Chris Wilder will also hope that things will get even worse for Liverpool. A first Merseyside derby defeat at home for 21 years last weekend was the fourth game in a row to bring no points for the Anfield club – and a result that kept Liverpool outside the European places, let alone the top four.
Jurgen Klopp can point to even more injuries as a factor in the loss. But the fact is that his team was soundly beaten and could not beat Jordan Pickford in the Everton goal when it did get a chance. Captain Jordan Henderson is the latest player to be forced out by injury – after being part of a makeshift defense at Goodison Park. Who knows who will be playing at the back against Sheffield United?
Sheffield United vs. Liverpool Betting Pick
Liverpool to Win-256
Liverpool’s recent run of defeats has come largely against some of the other top teams in the EPL. But there is no denying that Klopp’s side is not playing as well as it was last season – even with all the injuries and absentees. That being said, the victory over RB Leipzig in the Champions League showed there are still some good players available – and Sheffield United does not look like putting up much of a fight on Sunday.
