Sheffield United vs. Fulham – EPL, October 18, 2020
It is not a great shock that Fulham is yet to draw or win a game so far this season after coming up from the Championship. But Sheffield United being in the same boat as the Londoners will come as a surprise to many.
The Blades were the revelation of the EPL last year but have failed to get going so far – and a home win is desperately needed.
Sheffield United vs. Fulham Odds
Sheffield United has been a shadow of side it was last season so far but the sportsbooks seem confident that this will be the week that it manages to get its first points on the board. Fulham has looked out of depth in the opening weeks, so the home win bet would definitely look like the way to go.
Sheffield United vs. Fulham Match Preview
Blades boss Chris Wilder will be hoping that new signing Rhian Brewster will be the catalyst for an upturn in fortune as he takes his side into the fifth game of the season without picking up a single point so far. Sheffield United only scored its first goal in the last game against Arsenal, so something needs to change quickly.
It is unclear as to whether this second season syndrome is just bad luck or whether Wilder’s team has been found out. But what is for sure, is that Sheffield United needs to beat Fulham convincingly on Sunday to show that it is able to compete once again in the English top flight.
Unfortunately for Fulham, it looks increasingly like it is not able to do that. The west London club has struggled from the first day of the season and currently has one of the worst defensive records in the league. Although the addition of Tosin Adarabioyo from Manchester City might help with that.
But manager Scott Parker will probably more interested in seeing whether the loan signing of Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek will help with matters at the other end of the pitch. Aleksandr Mitrovic has looked like the only real avenue for goals so far and the hope will be that the England international can galvanize those around him to stir an attacking threat.
Sheffield United vs. Fulham Pick
Sheffield United to Win-101
Loftus-Cheek looks like one of those loan signings that could turn out to be a masterstroke for both player and club. But it is starting to look as if it will have to be, as Fulham has been well off the pace so far and cannot afford to keep losing games as the season progresses. I’m still not sure it will be enough to stop Sheffield United on Sunday.
