Shakhtyor Soligorsk vs. Dinamo Minsk – Belarusian Premier League, October 18, 2020
It has been a rocky month or so for Shakhtyor but with a game still in hand on the top two, there is still a chance that the Soligorsk club could claim a famous title win.
Traditional powerhouse Dinamo Minsk is the visitor this weekend and it will also be up for the points, as it mounts a last ditch attempt to break into the top three.
Shakhtyor Soligorsk vs. Dinamo Minsk Odds
Shakhtyor might not be the all-conquering team it was earlier in the season but the sports betting sites still make it a convincing favorite to win this one on Sunday. Dinamo Minsk has been steadily improving, though, and will feel that a top three finish is not beyond it – so the other options are worth checking out.
Defeats to Isloch and Slavia Mozyr in its last three games have really derailed Shakhtyor’s hopes of winning the league this season. But there is still a very good chance that it can recover with just six games of the season still to play. Shakhtyor still has to face BATE at home before the end of the campaign, so there is everything to play for.
It had looked as though Yuriy Vernydub had led the Soligorsk side to a commanding lead in the league before the defeat to Isloch and his surprising resignation that followed. Ukrainian Roman Hryhorchuk took over at the start of September but has only overseen two league games since then.
This fixture against Dinamo Minsk should be a good sign to how both clubs will fare over the remainder of the campaign. If Dinamo does manage to pick up a win, or even a draw, it would give the club a lot of confidence going into its final four games. There are a lot of sides just waiting for the top three to slip up and a win here could put Dinamo in the driving seat.
The Minsk club parted with its manager very early on in the season, of course. The replacement, Leonid Kuchuk, may not win any awards for producing entertaining soccer – but he has given the team a chance of European qualification at least. There had been some poor results but wins against Smolevichi and Vitebsk in the last month has changed the look of the table.
Shakhtyor Soligorsk vs. Dinamo Minsk Betting Pick
Shakhtyor Soligorsk to Win-156
This game might be a bit closer than many people might think – and definitely a tighter spectacle than the reverse fixture earlier in the season. That might have only finished 1-0 to Shakhtyor but the victors looked commanding throughout. Dinamo’s defense will stand firm on Sunday but I feel like we might see a repeat scoreline of these two sides’ previous meeting.
