Seongnam vs. Gwangju Betting Preview – K League 1, September 20, 2020
Two teams relying on results elsewhere to help them make the top six meet on Sunday, as Gwangju makes the trip north to take on Seongnam.
It has been a fairly successful season for both clubs and making it into the top half of the table at the 22-game split would be a real achievement for either squad.
Seongnam vs. Gwangju Odds
These two clubs are level on points after 21 games of the season and will probably fight over the mid-table places for the remainder of the campaign. So there is no real surprise that BetOnline prices this game so closely, with Seongnam the slight favorite. With such a level playing field, the draw bet might be the best value though.
After coming up last season Seongnam has achieved its first priority and has not been dragged into a relegation battle – and there will be few fans who will be really disappointed that the club is unlikely to make the top six and a chance at the AFC Champions League.
The Magpies once again have one of the best defensive records in the league but have been hampered by their inability to score at the other end. If manager Kim Nam-il can work on that in the offseason, this is a side that could well push on next year and compete further up the table.
Gwangju, on the other hand, has found life in the top flight a bit of a struggle. There have been some definite high points but it was always going to be tough this year. But once Felipe got going upfront, the Yellows have been able to compete at least – even if draws have been the more frequent result in the last two months.
In fact, last week’s loss to Sangju Sangmu was the first time in eight weeks that Gwangju had been beaten – with five draws in that time. Just recording five wins all season has cost the club a place in the top six but a few more positive results between now and the end of the season will count as a good year.
My Seongnam vs. Gwangju Prediction and Pick
With all games kicking off at the same time on Sunday, both these clubs will be keeping up with what is going on with Gangwon and FC Seoul. But the likelihood is that whatever happens here will not affect the top half of the table in the end. For what its worth, I think that these two will play out an entertaining draw.
