Scotland vs. France – 2020 Autumn Nations Cup

| November 20, 2020 10:34 am PDT

Scotland host France in Sunday’s Autumn Nations Cup, and it’s difficult not to get excited for this one.

The Scots have enjoyed a decent year, with a couple of big victories in the 2020 Six Nations. One of them, a 28-17 victory over France, is the one that will be the major talking point ahead of this match.

France will arrive in Edinburgh with a score to settle. If not for a red card picked up by Mohamed Haouas, the French would have probably won that game. Instead, they picked up their only loss of the championship and will be lamenting the spoiled chance of a Six Nations Grand Slam.

I’m going to give my take for this match in my Scotland vs. France prediction a little later. First, let’s check out the odds and best bets for this one.

Scotland vs. France Odds

Scotland to Win+160
France to Win-225

Scotland enters this match as the +160 underdogs.

Despite a resurgence in form that saw them finish just four points off winners, England, Gregor Townsend’s men will be up against it. This French team will want to make amends for their loss to the Scots in March, and Fabien Galthie is confident that his “finishers” will get the job done.

France’s odds to beat Scotland are a decent -225.

As previously mentioned, the French were just one win away from clinching the first Grand Slam of the decade. Instead, England pipped their rivals to the title on points difference.

A team with awesome potential, I was not surprised to see the French do well. In fact, I tipped them to have a stellar campaign and was mostly happy with what I saw from them in the Six Nations.

Now you’ve seen the odds, how do you feel about betting on Scotland vs. France? Perhaps the following bets can help you make up your mind.

Scotland vs. France Best Bets

  • France -5.5 Points (-112)
  • France to Win by 11-20 Points (+250)
  • Total Points Under 38.5 (+300)

Let’s talk bout this bet for a little. France -5.5 Points (-112) is, in my opinion, nothing short of a steal.

The French are the most improved team in test rugby and will be heading to Scotland with a point to prove. They have the best defensive coach on the planet and a wealth of attacking options throughout their ranks.

I honestly believe that this is the best bet I have seen for any sport this weekend. The only thing that comes close is Deiveson Figueiredo to Beat Alex Perez by KO/TKO in Saturday night’s UFC 255.

France to Win by 11-20 Points (+250) is another bet with potential.

I believe the French will be looking to get the job done, first and foremost, and will certainly be aware of Scotland’s prowess. That said, they will benefit from the absences of Finn Russell and Adam Hastings at 10.

Total Points Under 50.5 (-118) is yet another solid bet on this game.

I don’t think Scotland will have a lot of luck against this French defense, especially without Russell leading the creative charge.

I would be surprised to see the Scots score more than two tries, but expect a couple of penalties.

Conversely, I don’t think France is going to destroy Townsend’s men. But it should be a comfortable win for the Frenchmen.

Scotland vs. France Prediction

I’ll keep this short but sweet.

France looks the part right now, and have such depth on the bench that it is hard to see how Scotland can contain them. France will be out for revenge for what happened in the Six Nations. The Racing 92 players that lost the European Rugby Champions Cup final to Stuart Hogg’s Exeter might also have something to prove.

If Scotland wins on Sunday, they will register their first three-game streak over the French since 1958. That is a stat that pretty much sums up what Townsend’s boys are up against tomorrow.

My prediction for France vs. Scotland? I’ll go with France to win 32-13.

And That’s All for Now

Will France beat Scotland in this weekend’s 2020 Autumn Nations Cup tie at Murrayfield? If you’re as confident as I am that they will, head over to the top online sportsbooks and get your bets down.

I’m backing the French to do it in style, with Fabien Galthie putting a marker down in his side’s first game of the competition. That Scotland result in the Six Nations will be all the pre-match motivation required.

Of course, there are more games to bet on this weekend. England vs. Ireland and Wales vs. Georgia are both appealing ties. You can catch my betting previews for both games, below.

Enjoy the games!
