Sanford International Picks in 2021 – PGA Tour Champions Tour Betting Predictions
The PGA Tour Champions heads to Sioux Falls, SD, for the fourth consecutive year. This week’s host venue, Minnehaha Country Club, is a gorgeous tree-lined layout on the edge of the Big Sioux River. Undulating terrain is a common theme throughout the property – this par-70 design is far from an easy test.
Then again, with about every big name on the Champions Tour accounted for this week, at least one or two guys are bound to go low.
After scanning the odds and scrutinizing data, here are my best Sanford International picks.
Value Picks for the Sanford International
Scott Parel (+4000) and Darren Clarke (+5000) piqued my interest at first glance. Once I did a bit more digging, I uncovered two additional names even further down on the betting sheet.
Those willing to roll the dice, here are two ways you can capture a whole bunch of upside.
Kirk Triplett (+7000)
It’s been mostly tough sledding for Kirk Triplett since finishing T2 at the Mitsubishi Electric Championship in mid-May. He’s only got one top-10 on his resume since (T8 at the DICK’S Sporting Goods Open), but there’s reason to believe that breakthrough performance could be in store in South Dakota.
After opening with a dismal 75 last Friday in St. Louis, Triplett bounced back with rounds of 67-66 to climb into the top-16. Not only were Kirk’s irons and putter cooperating over the weekend, but Minnehaha Country Club is a place he’s had success at in the past.
Case in point – Triplett finished 6th here in 2018 and 7th here in 2019.
Rocco Mediate (+8000)
Speaking of performing well at Minnehaha CC in the past, here’s a nod to the winner of the 2019 Sanford International.
With positive course history spoken for, let’s shine a light on Rocco’s recent form.
The 58-year-old fidgety golfer finished 6th last week at the Ascension Charity Classic, the third time he’s landed 7th or better in his last seven starts.
Are you willing to take a flier on either of these Sanford International predictions? If not, the next segment features two golfers who are destined to contend.
Best Sanford International Betting Picks
Jim Furyk (+600) stands alone at best places to bet on golf online, followed closely behind by Steve Stricker (+800). Nothing about Furyk’s +600 price tag appeases me; Stricker’s got way too much on his mind to be fully focused on his golf game. I’m taking a pass on Steve’s +800 number as well.
Among the names “expected to contend,” here are the two I’m most interested in backing.
Steven Alker (+1400)
Steven Alker finished 11th on the Korn Ferry Tour on July 25th. He turned 50 on July 28th – then proceeded to finish 5th in his next Korn Ferry Tour start. The Kiwi has since joined the 50-and-over circuit and has kept his foot on the gas pedal.
|Steven Alker Has Arrived on the PGA Tour Champions|
|8/29/21||The Ally Challenge||69-65-67||3|
|9/12/21||Ascension Charity Classic||71-68-68||T9|
Three top-10s in three starts and a scoring average of 68.3. Safe to say that Alker is asserting himself nicely.
Woody Austin (+1800)
Making his fourth trip to Minnehaha CC, Woody Austin is looking to build on his impressive resume at this golf course. Woody finished 6th, 7th, and 17th in the previous three editions of this event and is playing some of his best golf of the year right now.
Like Alker, Woody has cracked the top-10 in each of his last three starts (T5-9-T3). Unlike Alker, Austin is a two-time winner on the PGA Tour Champions and knows exactly what it takes to finish the job in a final round.
Lock these two Sanford International betting picks in and expect a sweat come Sunday afternoon.
