San Jose Earthquakes vs. LAFC – MLS, November 1, 2020
LAFC and San Jose faced each other twice in September. Bob Bradley’s side notched up a 5-1 thrashing in the first game, but the Quakes got their revenge with a 2-1 victory later in the month.
The California clubs clash again on Sunday, November 1, with San Jose sitting four points behind LAFC in the Western Conference standings. Both sides have been in good form since their last meeting, so this is set to be another tasty encounter.

San Jose Earthquakes vs. LAFC Odds
Home advantage is with San Jose (3.25) on Sunday, although LAFC (2.00) is still the bookies’ favorite to win this game. The high price for the Black & Gold victory is tempting, but the Quakes have been playing some eye-catching soccer of late.
San Jose Earthquakes vs. LAFC Preview
Even at the ripe old age of 37, Chris Wondolowski has still got it. The veteran striker bagged a brace as San Jose beat Real Salt Lake on Wednesday, earning himself MLS Player of the Week honors in the process.
Wondolowski is due to retire at the end of the season, but having netted six goals in 11 starts this year, the Goonies will surely be begging him to stay.
Matias Almeyda’s men have won five of their last eight games, and their remarkable season turnaround has propelled them into playoff contention. Just last month, the Quakes looked dead and buried. But they now have a three-point cushion over Vancouver Whitecaps, meaning a top-eight finish is on the cards.
San Jose still has the poorest defensive record in the Western Conference, but the team’s forwards have seriously upped their game in recent weeks. The Quakes have scored over 1.5 goals in each of their previous five victories and even netted four against LA Galaxy earlier in the month.
Having said that, San Jose comes up against the joint-top scorers in the West on Sunday. LAFC has notched up 44 goals in 20 regular-season games this year, so we are likely to see plenty of action at Earthquakes Stadium.
Believe it or not, Bradley’s men are currently enjoying their first three-game unbeaten streak since the MLS is Back Tournament. It’s fair to say the Black & Gold has been wildly inconsistent since the regular season resumed, but the team appears to be gathering momentum at just the right time.
After drawing with Portland Timbers, LAFC claimed the El Trafico bragging rights with a 2-0 victory over rivals LA Galaxy last weekend. Bradley’s men then racked up 28 shots and 68% possession as they beat Houston Dynamo 2-1 in midweek.
With MVP Carlos Vela back from injury and Diego Rossi continuing to shine, LAFC will be a force to be reckoned with in the playoffs.
San Jose Earthquakes vs. LAFC Betting Pick
In all honesty, this one could go either way. Both sides have already claimed a win in this fixture this season, and both teams have picked up some impressive results since they last met.
But one thing is certain: there will be plenty of goals. San Jose and LAFC have both been scoring for fun recently, yet their defenses have not been tight. With that in mind, I can see this clash ending in a high-scoring draw.
