The San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers will face off against each other on Tuesday, October 6, in the opening game of their National League Division Series at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas.

There’s no home-field advantage for the top-seeded Dodgers, as the MLB Playoffs continue at the neutral sites. Still, these two NL West foes know each other very well, and we’re going to see a super exciting series in Arlington.

Therefore, I have prepared the best Padres vs. Dodgers betting pick and tips for Tuesday’s opener, so let’s take a closer look.

Padres vs. Dodgers Odds

Padres +1.5 -165
Dodgers -1.5 +145
Padres to Win +140
Dodgers to Win -150
Over 8.0 -120
Under 8.0 +100

The Dodgers opened as firm -150 favorites, but this could change slightly because the Padres haven’t announced their starting pitcher yet. Anyway, I don’t expect to see anything dramatic, but keep tracking the odds on some of the best online sportsbooks.

Padres vs. Dodgers Preview

This will be the clash of the two excellent offensive teams. The Padres were scoring 5.42 runs per game during the regular season (3rd in the majors), while the Dodgers were tallying 5.82 runs per contest (1st).

San Diego was tied-eighth in batting average (.257) and third in slugging percentage (.466). Los Angeles was 11th in batting average (.256) and tied-first in slugging percentage (.483).

Furthermore, the Dodgers led the majors with 118 home runs, while the Padres were fourth with 95 round-trippers.

The Dodgers won six of their 10 regular-season encounters with the Padres in 2020. They are 20-10 in the previous 30 matchups with San Diego.

Walker Buehler will take the mound for LA in this one, and the righty tossed four innings in a 4-2 victory over the Brewers last week. He allowed a couple of earned runs and fanned eight.

Buehler was 1-0 with a 3.44 ERA and 0.95 WHIP in eight starts last regular season, meeting the Padres once in a no-decision. Walker allowed three home runs over five innings of work, but it was way back on August 3.

The Dodgers swept the Milwaukee Brewers in the previous round, beating them 4-2 and 3-0. The Padres needed three games to eliminate the St. Louis Cardinals. After a 7-4 defeat in the opener, the Padres won the next two games 11-9 and 4-0.

As I’ve mentioned, the Padres haven’t decided who’ll get the starting call Tuesday. Dinelson Lamet and Mike Clevinger are still on the injury list, but one of these two guys could return against the Dodgers.

Padres vs. Dodgers Pick

Whoever gets the ball for the Padres, I expect to see a high-scoring affair in the opening contest of this series. The Dodgers’ bullpen has been terrific all season, while the Padres’ relievers have improved a lot over the last few weeks and after a terrible start of the season, but I would rely on a couple of mighty offenses.

Buehler already struggled against the Padres this season. He’s far away from his best form, also having some injury problems in 2020, so I expect the Padres to jump on his fastball early. Three of the previous four encounters between San Diego and LA went in the over and produced nine or more runs in total.
