Sampdoria vs. Lazio Betting Preview – Serie A, October 17, 2020

After two weeks of international soccer, the Italian Serie A continues with Matchday 4 over the weekend. Saturday is full of exciting matchups including the clash between Sampdoria and Lazio at Stadio Luigi Ferraris in Genoa.

Despite a shaky start, a just four earned points out of the first three rounds, the bookies still consider Lazio as one of the strongest contenders for the top-four finish.

Therefore, the Eagles are listed as slight favorites in this one even though they are playing on the road. Lazio won four straight road games against Sampdoria including a comfortable 3-0 victory last season.

Lazio suffered a heavy 4-1 home loss to Atalanta in Matchday 2 which was a proper kick in the teeth for the Eagles’ fans. Another disappointment came two weeks ago, as Lazio drew with Inter 1-1 at home.

The head coach Simone Inzaghi has some serious injury problems and cannot count on striker Ciro Immobile (suspension), defenders Stefan Radu (hamstring), Bastos (hamstring), and Luiz Felipe (ankle), and midfielders Senad Lulic (ankle) and Gonzalo Escalante (muscle).

Despite all their injury problems, the Eagles are favorites for a reason. They possess great depth and with guys like Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Luis Alberto, I expect the Eagles to control the midfield and create a lot of scoring opportunities.

On the other hand, Lazio’s defense will be a problem, missing a couple of regular starters, so I expect the visitors to concede once in this game.
