Round 24 La Liga Predictions and Top Betting Picks for February 11-14, 2022

| February 10, 2022 2:15 am PDT

At the top of the La Liga standings, Real Madrid still holds a six-point lead over second-place Sevilla. However, with only six points between third-place Real Betis and eighth-place Athletic Club, the battle for Europe remains a fierce one.

I will be sharing my La Liga predictions for Round 24 today, along with several top betting picks. First, though, let’s take a quick look at the Round 24 La Liga schedule in full.

  • Sevilla vs. Elche
  • Cadiz vs. Celta Vigo
  • Villarreal vs. Real Madrid
  • Rayo Vallecano vs. Osasuna
  • Atletico Madrid vs. Getafe
  • Alaves vs. Valencia
  • Levante vs. Real Betis
  • Real Sociedad vs. Granada
  • Espanyol vs. Barcelona
  • Mallorca vs. Athletic Club

On Saturday, Real Madrid faces a tough trip to Villarreal. We also have the small matter of the Derbi Barceloní to get our teeth into, as cross-city rivals Espanyol and Barcelona go head-to-head on Sunday.

Let’s dive straight into my predictions for La Liga Round 24. Remember – if you’re wagering on La Liga this weekend, be sure to use only the top soccer betting sites to get the best odds, promotions, and more.

Sevilla to Beat Elche

To say that Sevilla is enjoying an impressive campaign would be a massive understatement. As it stands, Julen Lopetegui’s men find themselves second in the table – six points behind Real Madrid – after losing just two of their 23 games this season.

The Andalusia outfit heads into Round 24 on a nine-game unbeaten streak, having picked up five wins and four draws since their last loss. They also boast the best defensive record in the Spanish top flight, having kept 12 clean sheets this term.

On the flip side, Elche sits fourteenth – 21 points behind Sevilla. Francisco’s boys have only managed to win six of their 23 La Liga matches this season, recording eight draws and nine losses.

All the signs point towards a straightforward home win here. This is arguably the biggest mismatch in La Liga this weekend, meaning Sevilla should cruise to a comfortable victory.

Villarreal and Real Madrid to Draw

There was a time earlier in the season when it looked as though Real Madrid would run away with the La Liga title. Indeed, Los Blancos lost just one of their opening 17 matches – securing 13 wins and three draws in the process.

However, the runaway leaders have only managed to win three of their past six league outings. After playing out a goalless draw with Cadiz, Real Madrid was beaten by lowly Getafe before drawing with Elche.

By contrast, Villarreal has picked up six wins across the past eight rounds. The Yellow Submarine has continued to rise up the standings over the past couple of months, scoring plenty of goals while keeping numerous clean sheets.

I’m backing Villarreal to hold Real Madrid to a draw at El Madrigal. Carlo Ancelotti’s men are not firing on all cylinders at the moment, and Unai Emery’s men have lost only two of their 12 home games this term.

Atletico Madrid to Beat Getafe

Atletico Madrid suffered a 4-2 thrashing at the hands of Barcelona last weekend. That means Los Colchoneros have lost five of their previous eight La Liga matches, having lost just one of their opening 15 clashes.

The defending champions are not in a good place right now. However, Saturday’s game against Getafe provides them with the ideal opportunity to return to winning ways and get back on track.

At the opposite end of the standings, Getafe sits ten places and 11 points below Atletico. Only two sides have scored fewer goals than Quique Sanchez Flores’ men, and they find themselves just seven points outside the relegation zone.

Despite the absence of key players like Marcos Llorente and Antoine Griezmann, I’m confident that Atleti will claim all three points this weekend.

Barcelona to Beat Espanyol

As I just mentioned, Barcelona hammered Atletico last weekend. Goals from Jordi Alba, Gavi, Ronald Araujo, and Dani Alves saw the Catalans extend their unbeaten streak to seven La Liga games.

When you look at the bigger picture, Barca has suffered only one loss in 12 league matches – securing six wins and five draws along the way. There is no denying that the arrival of Xavi has transformed the team.

On the other side of town, Espanyol is struggling. Vicente Moreno’s men have failed to win any of their last four La Liga outings and have lost seven of their previous 12. As a result, they trail their Derbi Barceloní rivals by 11 points.

I expect Xavi’s boys to extend their unbeaten run to eight matches on Sunday. They have completely turned their season around over the past few months.

More Round 24 La Liga Predictions

  • Celta Vigo to Beat Cadiz
  • Rayo Vallecano and Osasuna to Draw
  • Valencia to Beat Alaves
  • Real Betis to Beat Levante
  • Real Sociedad to Beat Granada
  • Athletic Club to Beat Osasuna

The rest of my predictions for La Liga Round 24 are relatively straightforward. I’m backing Celta Vigo, Valencia, Real Betis, Real Sociedad, and Athletic Club to win their respective games this weekend.

Elsewhere, I expect ninth-place Rayo Vallecano and twelfth-place Osasuna to play out a draw in Puente de Vallecas. They are separated by just two points in the standings and both head into Round 24 in iffy form.

My Betting Picks for La Liga Round 24

Sevilla vs. Elche – Sevilla to Win and Keep a Clean Sheet2.05
Villarreal vs. Real Madrid – Both Teams to Score1.70
Espanyol vs. Barcelona – Barcelona to Win1.80

Sevilla is priced at 1.40 to beat Elche (9.00). Since Sevilla boasts the best defensive record in La Liga, I recommend adding the clean sheet onto the home win to boost the odds.

At 2.50, Villarreal is the marginal favorite to beat Real Madrid (2.63) – suggesting that Saturday’s clash is too close to call. I’m backing both teams to score at El Madrigal, as both sides are among the top five scorers in the league.

In my eyes, odds of 1.80 for in-form Barcelona to beat struggling Espanyol (4.75) are too good to miss. Barca is unbeaten in seven, while Espanyol is enduring a four-game winless stretch.
