Remington Park Picks – Saturday, October 10, 2020

One of the few horse racing tracks in the country to permit spectators, Remington Park in Oklahoma City has a nine-race card full of maiden, allowance, and claiming races to kick off the weekend. I found some good underdog wagers in the three races I reviewed, but sadly, no profitable show-wager prospects.

This is an allowance optional claiming race for two-year-olds running a distance of 6-1/2 furlongs for a purse of $30,000.

I like the third-favored (7/2) entry here—Lucky Promise, with Lindey Wade in the irons. This colt moneyed both of his career starts, winning one of them.

The longest odds in this six-horse field are 10/1, and I don’t see a money finish here for that entry.

This is a maiden claiming race for Oklahoma-bred two-year-olds running a distance of six furlongs for a purse of $20,400.

I’m going with the second-favored (4/1) entry in this race—Coach Dan, with Roberto Morales aboard. Like many in this field, this colt has no record of starts, but he’s performed well during recent workouts.

I see no long-odds entries in this maiden race worth the risk of a show bet, so save your money.

This is an allowance race for fillies and mares three years old and upward running a distance of one mile for a purse of $30,000.

I like the second-favored (4/1) entry here—Texas Rain, ridden by Sophie Doyle. This three-year-old filly moneyed six of her nine career starts, winning three of them.

Not one of the longer-odds entries in this race shows any indication of finishing in the money, so no value bet for this one.
