The Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees will conclude their first series of the season on Sunday night. Boston jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in Friday’s game, but New York quickly made a comeback.

Both teams scored a run in the 10th inning, but Josh Donaldson had the walk-off hit to give the Yankees a 6-5 victory. The Yankees could be aiming for a series sweep, while the Red Sox look to win the series.

The odds give the New York Yankees a slight advantage, but don’t underestimate the Boston Red Sox. They have a potent offense that should be able to compete with the Yankees.

These offenses did it against the other teams’ ace. Gerrit Cole nor Nathan Eovaldi made it to the sixth inning. Both allowed three runs, while Cole only struck out three batters.

An extra-inning game meant more at-bats for both teams. Xander Bogaerts led the Red Sox, going 3-5 with an RBI and two runs. Josh Donaldson and Anthony Rizzo each had two hits, with Donaldson’s second giving the Yankees the victory.

Sunday night’s pitching matchup will feature Boston’s Tanner Houck and New York’s Jordan Montgomery.

The Red Sox experimented with Houck coming out of the bullpen late last season, but it didn’t yield great results.

He had a rough outing against the Yankees but pitched a scoreless inning against them in last year’s wild-card game.

Montgomery looked good down the stretch, allowing one run or fewer in six of his last eight games. However, he is susceptible to a bad game. He allowed seven runs in his final start of 2021.

Will either pitcher be able to slow down the offenses? That’ll be the difference-maker.

I’m counting on a big offensive game, so it only makes sense I went that direction with my same game parlay. There is a ton of value on this one, giving you (+1259) odds.

Giancarlo Stanton’s 2022 season is off to an interesting start. He’s 2-8 with four strikeouts, but his hits have been home runs. Stanton has hit a home run in his last six games against the Boston Red Sox.

He hasn’t had much success against Tanner Houck, but it’s hard to go against Stanton. I know it’s risky to wager on home run props, but Stanton should be your top pick. Can he make it seven straight games against Boston with a home run?

Boston has a ton of talent on their offense, but it might surprise some people to know Alex Verdugo has been their top player.

Verdugo has two hits in each of the Red Sox’s first two games. There are multiple players with lower odds to score a hit. Those players might have a better pedigree, but I’ll take some value with Verdugo. He should continue his hot start to the 2022 season.

Rafael Devers couldn’t have had a much better start to the 2022 season. He hit a two-run homer in his first at-bat against Gerrit Cole. That was his only hit of the game, and he went 1-4 with a double on Saturday.

Verdugo leads Boston with three RBIs, but Devers’ home run on Opening Day puts him second on the team. We’ve seen Devers put good wood on the ball, but the hits haven’t come. I think he takes it a step further with an RBI.

Ultimately, I don’t believe either pitcher can slow down these teams. Both offenses were impressive early in Friday’s game. They knocked around Gerrit Cole and Nathan Eovaldi, so imagine what they’ll do with Sunday’s starting pitchers.

We’ll see if guys like Trevor Story, J.D. Martinez, and Joey Gallo can bounce back from a rough performance on Opening Day.
