Real Salt Lake vs. FC Dallas Betting – MLS, October 24, 2020

Real Salt Lake and FC Dallas will both be aiming to keep their play-off dreams alive when the two sides clash at Rio Tinto Stadium on Saturday, October 24.

Sixth-place Dallas currently has a three-point lead and a game in hand over Freddy Juarez’s men, who sit ninth in the Western Conference. However, the Texans were humiliated by Nashville last time out, while RSL secured a shock victory over high-flying Portland Timbers.

After checking out the bookies’ odds, I share my Real Salt Lake vs. FC Dallas prediction and betting pick.

10bet clearly liked the look of Real Salt Lake’s (2.10) impressive win over Portland earlier in the week. The Claret & Cobalt may trail Dallas (3.60) in the standings, but the home side is the favorite to win this game.

Can RSL build on their victory? Or will Dallas get back on track? I assess both sides’ chances below.

Real Salt Lake had been due a win for a long time, although I don’t think anyone expected the Utah club to end their losing streak against the Timbers. Three straight defeats saw RSL plummet down the Western Conference table, but the team managed to get the better of Portland last time out.

Considering that Portland is joint-top of the division, Juarez’s men must be given huge credit for their efforts. Early strikes from Douglas Martinez and Damir Kreilach saw them race into a two-goal lead inside 30 minutes, and the Timbers failed to recover.

Still, it is important to remember that last week’s victory was Real Salt Lake’s first since September and just their second in eight outings. RSL has lost five of their previous eight games, so securing back-to-back wins won’t be an easy task.

Things were looking up for Dallas following a run of one defeat in four games. The Toros drew with Orlando City and Columbus Crew before beating Sporting Kansas City last week, but they were brought back down to earth by Nashville on Tuesday.

Despite creating plenty of goalscoring opportunities, Luchi Gonzalez’s side lost 3-0 to the Tennessee outfit. The Texans enjoyed almost 60% possession and racked up 11 shots, but they only managed to get two attempts on target.

Dallas remains in control of their play-off bid, but with the chasing pack hot on their heels, the Toros can’t afford any more damaging defeats. After all, there are only four points separating sixth-place Dallas and tenth-place Houston.

Real Salt Lake definitely isn’t as bad as the current standings suggest. Juarez’s men have endured a tough spell, but I’m confident their statement victory over Portland will give them a much-needed boost for the play-off push.

Dallas has been pretty inconsistent throughout the campaign, so I can see RSL snatching all three points on Saturday.
