Real Madrid vs. Liverpool – Champions League, April 6, 2021

| April 6, 2021 4:05 am PDT

In a repeat of the 2017/18 UEFA Champions League final, Real Madrid and Liverpool meet in Spain for the first leg of the quarter-final tie on Tuesday, April 6.

Zinedine Zidane’s men head into Tuesday’s clash on an 11-match unbeaten streak in all competitions, while the Merseysiders are fresh from a convincing 3-0 win over Arsenal in the EPL.

After checking out the Champions League odds, I will share my Real Madrid vs. Liverpool prediction and betting pick.

Real Madrid vs. Liverpool Odds

Real Madrid to Win2.70
The Draw3.45
Liverpool to Win2.55

It is no secret that Liverpool (2.55) has endured a season to forget up to now. Still, the top-rated online sports betting sites view the away side as the narrow favorite to win the first leg.

Following a mid-season wobble, Real Madrid (2.70) has rediscovered some form recently. But the bookmakers clearly believe that Liverpool has a slight upper hand here.

Right, let’s get stuck into my Real Madrid vs. Liverpool betting preview.

Real Madrid Team Analysis

It could be argued that Los Blancos can count themselves fortunate to find themselves in the Champions League quarter-finals this year.

After all, Zidane’s men only managed to win three of their six group games earlier in the campaign, with two shock defeats coming at the hands of Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk.

But following a Matchday 6 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach, Real Madrid ended up finishing two points clear at the top of Group B.

The Spanish champions flexed their muscles in the Round of 16, securing a 4-1 aggregate win over Atalanta. Striker Karim Benzema scored his fifth goal in six UCL appearances during the second leg, taking his overall tally to 24 goals in 33 games this season.

Real’s current 11-game unbeaten run comprises nine wins and two draws, with three straight victories coming in La Liga. Los Blancos are now just three points behind Atletico Madrid in Spain’s top flight and will be confident of defending their crown.

Assessing Liverpool’s Form

Regardless of their evident domestic struggles, the Reds have largely impressed in the Champions League this term.

After losing just one of their six group games, Klopp’s men saw off RB Leipzig without any issues in the Round of 16. Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane each scored in both legs, with Liverpool claiming two straightforward 2-0 wins.

We all know that Liverpool isn’t going to defend the Premier League title this season. In fact, the Merseysiders have only managed to win five of their previous 16 EPL matches. However, a run of three wins in their last five league outings points towards an upturn in form.

It is no exaggeration to say that the Reds totally dominated Arsenal on Saturday. Not only did they enjoy 65% possession at the Emirates Stadium, but they also racked up 16 shots.

Having inspired his side to victory with an impressive brace last time out, Diogo Jota is likely to be key to Liverpool’s chances in the Spanish capital.

Real Madrid vs. Liverpool Betting Pick

  • The Draw

Following a testing period, Liverpool heads into Tuesday’s clash on a three-game winning streak. While it may be difficult for Klopp’s men to beat Real Madrid, I can definitely see them picking up a draw.

At the end of the day, the EPL champs have not let their domestic woes affect their European endeavors this season. Both sides will probably be happy to head into the second leg on level terms.
