Real Madrid vs. Cadiz – La Liga, October 17, 2020

After 14 long years, Cadiz returned to the Spanish La Liga last summer and will take on Real Madrid this Saturday, October 17, as La Liga betting action continues with Matchday 6.

Back in the 2005-06 season, Real Madrid beat Cadiz twice. Nine years later, these two foes met each other in the Spanish Copa del Rey, and Real Madrid easily outlasted Cadiz on the road, 3-1.

Los Blancos will look to extend their dominance over the Yellow Submarine, so here’s my best Real Madrid vs. Cadiz betting pick and tips for the upcoming weekend.

Real Madrid vs. Cadiz Odds

Real Madrid -1.5-140
Cadiz +1.5+120
Real Madrid to Win-455
Cadiz to Win+1300
Over 3.0+100
Under 3.0-118

Los Blancos opened as massive -455 favorites, but that was pretty much expected. The reigning champs are often listed as strong favorites when playing at home stadium, and the clash against the newcomers is not different.

Real Madrid has won eight straight La Liga games at home, conceding only two goals in the process. On the other side, Cadiz has lost only one of its previous eight road contests in all competitions along with four wins and three draws.

The visitors are +350 dogs to avoid a loss in this one. That tells you enough what the bookies expect from Saturday’s clash at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid.

Real Madrid vs. Cadiz Match Preview

Los Blancos are topping La Liga after the first five rounds even though one of their games was postponed. The reigning champs have won three of their four contests along with a 0-0 draw at Real Sociedad in the opener.

They’ve played just once at home and barely outlasted Valladolid 1-0. In the previous round of the 2020-21 La Liga season, Los Blancos defeated Levante 2-0 as -200 road favorites with Karim Benzema scoring the second goal in the dying moments of the second half.

Los Blancos have some injury worries and cannot count on Eden Hazard and Dani Carvajal. At least, their starting goalie Thibaut Courtois should be ready to go after suffering a minor injury on international duty.

On the other side, Cadiz head coach Alvaro Cervera can count on all his players ahead of Saturday’s game. This is Cervera’s fifth season at Cadiz’s helm, and the 55-year-old tactician can be pleased with his team’s performance through the first five weeks.

The Yellow Submarine is sitting at the ninth spot of the La Liga table with seven points and a 5:6 goal difference. Cadiz is undefeated in the previous two rounds, tallying a huge 1-0 road victory at Athletic Bilbao and a 1-1 home draw against Granada.

Real Madrid vs. Cadiz Pick

Cadiz suffered a couple of losses this season and both came at home to Sevilla and Osasuna. Alvaro Cervera loves to sit back and defend, so I’m not surprised that Cadiz won both road contests without conceding. However, that has to change when Cervera’s boys take on Los Blancos.

As I’ve mentioned, Real Madrid is on an eight-game win streak at home while covering a 1.5-goal spread five times in that span. Los Blancos are a much better team than the Yellow Submarine, and I expect them to prove it on the field.

If you want some greater wages, you can try with both teams to score at +130 or under 3.0 goals at -118, but I will stick with the hosts to cover. Seven of Cadiz’s last nine road games produced fewer than three goals in total, as well as four of Real Madrid’s previous five home contests.
