RB Leipzig vs. Schalke – Bundesliga, October 3, 2020

RB Leipzig hosts Schalke in the ultimate clash of Saturday’s Bundesliga schedule, as the German top tier goes on with Matchday 3 matchups over the weekend.

The Red Bulls have earned four points through the first two weeks of the new season, while the Miners have dropped both their games and are sitting bottom of the Bundesliga standings with a terrible 1:11 goal difference. 

It was a shocking start for Schalke, so the visitors will be fired up to prove their worth in this one, promising a very interesting battle at Red Bull Arena in Leipzig. Hereof, I bring you the best RB Leipzig vs. Schalke betting pick for Saturday, October 3.

The hosts are massive -370 favorites to beat Schalke, and I think the bookies have underestimated the visitors.

The Red Bulls are a better team than the Miners, no doubt. They are playing in a better form than Schalke, but setting the Miners at +280 to stay undefeated shows that bookmakers don’t trust the visitors at all.

RB Leipzig opened the 2020-21 Bundesliga season with a comfortable 3-1 home victory over Mainz. The Red Bulls netted twice early in the first half and had an immediate reply to Mainz’s early second-half goal.

Last week, the Red Bulls visited Bayer Leverkusen and earned a 1-1 draw as slight +115 favorites to win. They broke the deadlock just 14 minutes into the first half, but six minutes later, Bayer tied the game. It wasn’t a good performance by the Red Bulls, who took just seven shots and kept the ball in possession for 41 percent of the time.

On the other side, the Miners were humiliated in their opening game of the 2020-21 Bundesliga season. They lost to Bayern Munich 8-0, tallying the biggest defeat on the opening weekend in Bundesliga history.

It was a day to forget, but the Miners had another one this past Saturday. They lost to Werder Bremen 3-1 at home stadium, scoring the only goal in the dying moments of the second half when it mattered the least.

Schalke held the ball in possession for 62 percent of the time and took 17 shots towards Werder’s keeper, but it was another awful performance in general.

Schalke has dropped eight of its last 10 Bundesliga games along with a couple of draws. The Miners are winless since January 17, 2020, and they will have another uphill challenge in Leipzig this Saturday.

The Red Bulls should take this game, but I cannot bet on the hosts at some miserable odds. I would rather take the risk and go with both teams to score at -125.

The Miners are at a tough spot, but I’m counting on their pride. After conceding eight goals in the opener and suffering another tough loss at home in the previous round, Schalke should be keen to bounce back in a tough matchup with the Red Bulls.

RB Leipzig conceded in each of its previous two outings. Last season, the Red Bulls routed Schalke 5-0 in Gelsenkirchen, but they lost to the Miners 3-1 in Leipzig.
