Rafael Nadal vs. Stefanos Tsitsipas Pick – ATP Tour Finals, November 19, 2020

| November 18, 2020 5:56 am PDT

Dominic Thiem booked a place in the next stage of the Nitto ATP Tour Finals 2020 after a win over Rafael Nadal on Tuesday. The Spaniard will now face Stefanos Tsitsipas in a direct clash for the second spot available for group London 2020.

The Greek youngster will be eager to defend his title from 2019, while the King of Clay is looking for his first trophy in this competition. The stakes are high and I expect an epic clash on Thursday.

I share my thoughts on both players and their chances to win in this Rafael Nadal vs. Stefanos Tsitsipas betting preview. The post includes the latest odds, my prediction, and a free betting pick for the match.

Rafael Nadal Player Analysis and Form

The great Rafael Nadal has won pretty much any important tennis tournament out there and the ATP Tour Finals is the only major exception. The Spaniard will be eager to finally break the curse and he started the 2020 edition well with a win over Rublev.

The next clash brought a defeat against Thiem, but Rafa is not too concerned about it. I’m inclined to agree with his assessment because he had some chances to win and there’s no shame in losing versus one of the best players in the world.

The Spaniard can still qualify for the next stage with a win over Tsitsipas on Thursday, so I expect to see a strong performance by him. The head-to-head record shows five victories and only one loss for Nadal.  He even beat the same opponent in the same tournament last year, so he should be confident in his chances.

Stefanos Tsitsipas Player Analysis and Form

Last year’s ATP Tour Finals triumph is one of the most important moments of Stefanos Tsitsipas’ career and I’m sure he remembers it fondly. The Greek prodigy is back and ready to defend his title in 2020 as well.

He lost against Thiem in the first round, but bounced back with a tough victory over Rublev to keep his hopes alive.

Nadal is not an easy opponent, but the Spaniard’s struggle on indoor hard courts are well-documented. If Tsitsipas can stay aggressive throughout the match without making too many unforced errors, he certainly can win.

Nadal vs. Tsitsipas Pick

I expect a tight battle and I won’t be shocked if this match goes the distance. I still favor Nadal over Tsitsipas, but I don’t think it will be easy for the Spaniard. The price of -118 for over 22.5 games looks tempting and it could be covered in two long sets, so I’m going for it.
