PSG vs. Manchester United – Champions League, October 20, 2020

| October 19, 2020 2:39 am PDT

The pick of this week’s Champions League matchups sees PSG face Manchester United at Parc des Princes on Tuesday, October 20.

Despite reaching the UCL final last season, the Parisians will still be looking for revenge over Man Utd. The Red Devils dramatically knocked out PSG in the Round of 16 two years ago, so I’m expecting Tuesday’s clash to be a lively encounter.

Read on to see my PSG vs. Manchester United Champions League prediction and betting pick.

PSG vs. Manchester United Odds

PSG to Win 1.60
The Draw 4.25
Manchester United to Win 5.05

I’m not surprised that 10bet has named PSG (1.60) as the favorite to win this one. However, I didn’t expect the odds gap to be so vast. With home advantage, the French side is the deserved frontrunner. But Man Utd (5.05) still stands a decent chance of coming away from Paris with something to show for their efforts.

Let’s take a closer look at the teams.

PSG vs. Manchester United Preview

Thomas Tuchel’s men must be given huge credit for the way they carried themselves throughout the 2019/20 Champions League campaign. PSG went unbeaten in the group stage before seeing off Borussia Dortmund, Atalanta, and RB Leipzig in the knockout stages. But Bayern Munich was too strong in the final.

After losing their opening two games this term, it looked as though the Parisians had struggled to shake off last season’s disappointments. But having won each of their previous five outings, it’s safe to say that PSG is well and truly back on track.

Granted, the squad was blighted by injuries in the early stages of the season. Star man Kylian Mbappe missed the opening three games, although the 21-year-old has since notched up four goals and four assists in four appearances.

Five straight victories have seen Tuchel’s men score 16 goals while conceding just one. Of course, goals win games. But four clean sheets in the space of a month will no doubt please the manager.

Manchester United lost two of their opening three EPL games this season, with a humiliating 6-1 defeat to Tottenham coming on Matchday 3. The international break gave the team a much-needed lay-off from domestic duties, and it seems as though Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men have returned with a point to prove.

The Red Devils thrashed Newcastle 4-1 on Saturday as they secured their second Premier League victory of the campaign. And having racked up 64% possession and 28 shots (14 on target), there is no denying that Man Utd deserved the win.

Still, Solskjaer has plenty of work to do if he is expecting his team to compete on the European stage this year. Heavy defats to Crystal Palace and Spurs prove that Man Utd has big defensive problems.

PSG vs. Manchester United Pick

  • PSG to Win

With the odds for the home win only at 1.60, I would love to make a case for Man Utd getting something from this game. But in all honesty, I think PSG will be too good for the English side on Tuesday.

Along with the in-form Mbappe, Tuchel’s squad is packed with world-class stars. I’m sure that Mauro Icardi, Angel Di Maria, and Neymar will be licking their lips at the prospect of facing the Red Devils’ leaky defense.
