Picks and Predictions for EPL Games on Saturday

Thirty days – that’s how long is left before the end of the 2021-22 season of the Premier League. Things are starting to heat up in the English top-flight, especially among those teams that still haven’t achieved their season goals.

Manchester City, for instance, wants to retain the EPL title in its possession. To achieve this plan, Pep Guardiola’s men need to continue winning. Further, Tottenham, Arsenal, and Manchester United, are all dreaming of a Top 4 finish. Then there are Watford and Norwich, who are still praying for a miracle to save them from relegation.

We’ll see all of the aforementioned team in action on Saturday, April 23, 2022, which is when the EPL Round 34 kicks off. That said, now seems like the right time for you to read my Premier League predictions!

In this post, I will cover all five games scheduled for Saturday, analyzing Premier League odds and sharing my top EPL picks along the way.

The only game they won in April (vs. Chelsea), they entered as 4.20 underdogs.

Before I get on to my Premier League predictions, I think it’s important to take a look at the table. Although there are only a few more rounds to go before the end of the season, things can still change drastically in the EPL standings.

As you can see, Manchester City is trying to get away from Liverpool at the top of the table. There’s also a big battle being fought for the #4 place (the last one that leads to the Champions League). Tottenham, Arsenal, and Manchester United are in the race, with just three points between the lot of them.

On the opposite side of the Premier League table, Watford and Norwich are desperate for points to continue the relegation battle. Teams like Aston Villa, Brentford, and Newcastle, on the other hand, just need a few more points to ensure they’ll stay up.

The Gunners are coming off a big win over Chelsea, which, to be honest, came as a shock to me. Although I do think Arsenal has some amazing players on the roster, I don’t think these guys have enough experience to do well in big matches. They did very well against Chelsea, but I doubt they can do the same again. 

In Arsenal’s starting XI against Chelsea, there wasn’t a single player over 30. In fact, Granit Xhaka was their oldest player – aged 29.

On Saturday, these guys go to toe with players who have much more experience. The best example is Cristiano Ronaldo, a 37-year-old GOAT candidate who’s back in action after missing the Liverpool game due to personal reasons .

The fact that the odds on Manchester City winning on Saturday are just 1.10 shows what bookmakers think about this match.

It’s really no surprise that Pep Guardiola’s team is favored to win. After all, they’re sitting at the top of the Premier League table, while Watford is second from the bottom. Plus, Manchester City has a fantastic record against Watford. In fact, the boys in sky blue jerseys have won every single duel with the Hornets since 2007.

As if that wasn’t impressive, here’s an even more breathtaking fact – Man City has won by at least two goals in each of their previous five meetings. The total score differential in those five games is 24-2.

Some sportsbooks have removed Norwich from the list of possible options for the betting market “team to get relegated.” The reason is that such as scenario is almost 100% certain.

Norwich is currently at the bottom of the table with eight points fewer than Everton – the closest team from the safe zone.

As there are only six more games left for the Canaries to play before the EPL season wraps up, only a miracle can save them from relegation.

Newcastle, on the other hand, is likely to secure a spot in the EPL for another season. In fact, that could happen after Round 34. For that, they need to beat Norwich.

Judging by what we’ve seen from Newcastle players so far in April, such a scenario seems very plausible. These guys are coming off three straight wins, putting on some impressive performances on the pitch. If they continue playing like that, Norwich won’t be able to stop them from getting all three points.

Neither team can change its position in the Premier League standings much by the end of the season. Whatever happens, both Leicester City and Aston Villa will finish somewhere in the middle of the table.

Even though there’s a theoretical chance Aston Villa may get relegated, this team shouldn’t worry much. Still, there’s one thing that should worry them – they’re without a win in the previous four EPL games.

Similar to Aston Villa, Leicester City players also cannot be too proud of their recent run. Their most recent game (against Everton) finished in a 1-1 draw.

Even though Brentford has been a real giant slayer during its maiden Premier League season, I don’t think the Bees will slay Tottenham. It’s just that for the Spurs, this is a must-win game.

It’s because Tottenham is coming off a surprising defeat to Brighton. Antonio Conte’s men were supposed to win that game, which would’ve gotten them to three points more than Arsenal.

This way, they’re on level points with their North London foes. To stay in the Top 4, they need to make a prompt return to the winning track.
