Picks and Predictions for Premier League for Saturday, April 16, 2022
Only six weeks are left before the end of the 2021-22 season of the English Premier League. Most EPL teams have only six or seven games to play in the remainder of the season. What this means is that there’s not much time for things to change drastically in the Premier League standings.
However, no one can say for certain who’s going to win the trophy, which teams will finish in the top 4, or who’s going to get relegated to the Championship. As there’s so much at stake for all 20 Premier League clubs, every game matters, including those played in Round 33.
The round kicks off on Saturday, April 16 with four matchups that could prove crucial for the teams involved. If you would like to bet on those games, maybe I can help you with my Premier League predictions and picks.
Premier League Odds for April 16
- Tottenham (1.57), Draw (4.00), Brighton (6.00)
- Manchester United (1.25), Draw (6.00), Norwich (11.00)
- Southampton (4.00), Draw (3.60), Arsenal (1.91)
- Watford (2.88), Draw (3.30), Brentford (2.50)
The odds are from Betway, which is one of the best online sportsbooks for soccer betting. This bookmaker is giving better prices on favorites than most other sites. For instance, the odds on Tottenham are as short as 1.50 at many other sportsbooks.
The obvious next question is should you back the favorites to win in Round 33? To see what I think, all you got to do is keep on reading.
EPL Predictions for Saturday’s Round 33 Games
The end of the 2021-22 Premier League season is just around the corner, so every team needs to take things even more seriously. There’s no room for making mistakes and dropping valuable points. At least that’s the case for the sides with high ambitions.
As you can see in the EPL table below, some major changes in the rankings might happen in the remainder of the season.
|Premier League Standings Ahead of Gameweek 33|
The EPL table shows that there are several teams competing for the #4 spot, including three that are playing on Saturday – Tottenham, Manchester United, and Arsenal.
Then, there are a couple of teams that are trying to escape relegation, including Watford and Norwich. Knowing all this, it’s clear we’re in for plenty of excitement in Round 33.
Tottenham vs. Brighton Prediction
Tottenham won its previous four Premier League games, the result of which is that the Spurs are now in the #4 position. If they stay there, they’re going to play in the Champions League next season.
Getting to the UCL group stage means receiving at least $17.74 million , as well as making the club a much more attractive destination during the transfer period. Knowing this, it’s clear why the Spurs have set their eyes on the top 4 finish.

▪️ Kane: one goal, seven assists
▪️ Son: six goals, one assist
▪️ Kulusevski: one goal, three assists
To stay in such a high position in the EPL table, Tottenham needs to keep on winning. The trouble is that Antonio Conte’s boys have to face some real heavyweights in the remainder of the season (e.g., Liverpool, Leicester, and Arsenal). Against those teams, points aren’t guaranteed, which is why it’s important for Tottenham to do well against weaker sides such as Brighton.
Manchester United vs. Norwich Prediction
Norwich is sitting at the bottom of the Premier League table with just 21 points after 31 matches played. It’s very, very likely the Canaries will get relegated.
Bookmakers are giving just 1.01 on Norwich getting back to the Championship at the end of the season.
Sure, in theory, these guys still have a chance to get to the safe zone. However, for that to happen, they need to win most of their upcoming matches. Unfortunately, their schedule looks pretty harsh, starting with the game against Manchester United.
On any given day, the Red Devils would be favored against the Canaries. This time, they need to be favored even more as they’re probably extremely motivated to win on Saturday. Why? Because they failed to do so in the previous round – they lost to Everton 1-0.
Southampton vs. Arsenal Prediction
After losing back-to-back games, Arsenal dropped out of the EPL top 4. Nevertheless, the Gunners still have a decent chance of finishing the season in one of the UCL spots. It’s because they’ve played one game fewer than Tottenham, the team that’s in the #4 position at the moment.
That said, winning on Saturday is a must for Mikel Arteta’s team. Even though they’re playing on Southampton’s turf, they do have the manpower to pull it off. Another thing going in their favor is that the Saints are in a horrible run with just one point won in the previous five Premier League rounds.
One of those defeats was the 6-0 blowout loss to Chelsea. It happened last weekend and is the biggest loss the Saints have suffered this season.
Watford vs. Brentford Prediction
If Watford loses on Saturday, it could mean the end of its Premier League adventure. This team is second from the bottom in the EPL Standings, with just 22 points after 31 games. The Hornets are six points behind Everton, which is the closest team from the safe zone.
The biggest problem for Watford is that their players are completely out of form. Evidence of this is that they lost four of their previous five matches, recording a score differential of 4-13 along the way.
Those facts surely aren’t filling the Hornets with confidence ahead of the clash with in-form Brentford, the team that won four of its previous five EPL games. Among those wins are one against Chelsea and one against West Ham.
Top Picks for Premier League Games on Saturday, April 16
The fact that the Spurs have scored a total of 21 goals in their previous six Premier League matches makes me think they might score a lot this Saturday. Plus, their opponents might also strike back.
The fact that Norwich is the worst team in the Prem makes me confident Manchester United will destroy it on Saturday. By “destroy” I mean beat by at least three goals difference.
We should see plenty of goals in Arsenal’s trip to the South Coast. It’s not just that the Gunners are packing plenty of offensive weapons; it’s also because the Saints have been conceding a lot lately.
Finally, in the game between Watford and Brentford, I think the visiting team will not lose. Still, knowing that Watford players have nothing to lose, they might give Brentford a run for their money.
