Tuesday’s Picks and Predictions for Premier League Round 17 Games

The 2021-22 season of the Premier League has started to heat up. Ahead of Gameweek 17, the top three teams are separated by just three points. It’s a similar case in other parts of the table as well, meaning that we’re in for a lot of excitement in the upcoming days.
On Tuesday, December 14, 2021, there are three games on the program where all six teams are bound to give their utmost. The matchups in question are the following:
- Brentford vs. Manchester United
- Norwich vs. Aston Villa
- Manchester City vs. Leeds
These games are expected to bring joy to sports fans, but what about sports bettors? There’s a lot of money to be made, but only if you put your money on winning betting picks.
To help you make the right betting choices this Tuesday, I’ve decided to analyze all three games, sharing my predictions along the way.
Manchester United to Beat Brentford
Saturday, November 20, 2021 – that’s the date when we saw Manchester United losing a game the last time. Since then, the Red Devils have been terrific, with four wins and two draws in all competitions.
So, what’s changed? The manager. Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer is no longer their boss.
After three games with Michael Carrick as the caretaker manager, Manchester United put Ralf Rangnick is in charge.
Dubbed by the media as Godfather of Gegenpress, Rangnick insists his team takes the battle to the opponent’s half. Actually, that’s what the gegenpress tactic is all about – pressing high when out of possession.
So far, the new strategy has suited Manchester United players well. The German manager led the Red Devils to two Premier League wins.
The teams they defeated, however, aren’t really thought of as heavyweights – Crystal Palace and Norwich. Plus, both of those games finished with a 1-0 score.
The good news, however, is that they’re again taking on a lightweight opponent. On Tuesday, they’re squaring off with Brentford, a team that’s playing its first Premier League season ever.
The Bees have been surprisingly good in their maiden season in the top English flight. With a 5-5-6 record, they’re sitting in the middle of the Premier League table, with nine points more than Burnley, the closest team from the relegation zone.
Brentford is also in a pretty good run, especially when it comes to home games, with two straight wins at Brentford Community Stadium. Still, they probably aren’t going to win on Tuesday. In fact, the chances are they’re heading for a defeat.
It probably isn’t going to be a disappointing loss, though. Instead, another 1-0 win for Manchester United seems like the most likely outcome.
Aston Villa to Beat Norwich
Aston Villa is heading to East Anglia after a loss in the previous Premier League round. Last Saturday, they lost to Liverpool 1-0 at Anfield.
Sure, losing a game is disappointing, but the Villans should not feel too bad about it. After all, they lost to one of the world’s best teams. Further, the only goal scored by the Reds came from a penalty.
Aston Villa’s performance against Liverpool was just one in a series of decent performances over the last couple of weeks. And it all started with the appointment of Steven Gerard as their boss.
With him at Aston Villa’s helm, this team recorded some pretty formidable results, as you can see below:
- 2-0 win over Brighton at home (November 20)
- 2-1 win over Crystal Palace on the road (November 27)
- 2-1 loss to Manchester City at home (December 1)
- 2-1 win over Leicester City at home (December 5)
The Villans’ good run should continue as they’re taking on one of the Premier League’s worst clubs on Tuesday. The team in question is Norwich, whose current record is 2-4-10, which puts the Canaries at the very bottom of the table.
Manchester City to Beat Leeds
After six straight Premier League wins, Manchester City is back at the top of the table. The question is how long will the Citizens stay there?
The thing is that Man City has only one point more than second-placed Liverpool and two more than third-placed Chelsea. Those two play their Round 17 games on Wednesday and are both expected to win.
What this means is that if the Citizens don’t win on Tuesday, there’s a chance they could drop all the way to the #3 position.
Their manager Pep Guardiola surely doesn’t want to let that happen. The problem is that his boys are playing against the team led by his former mentor Marcelo Bielsa.
As a Leeds manager, Bielsa is without a defeat against Guardiola’s Man City, with one win and one draw. Should this worry Guardiola?
I think not. After all, he has much better players at his disposal than Bielsa. According to Transfermarkt, Man City’s roster is almost four times more valuable than the one of Leeds.
On top of that, Leeds is having some serious problems with injuries. Several of their key men are expected to miss Tuesday’s game – Kevin Philips, Rodrigo, Patrick Bamford, and others.
Best Premier League Bets for Tuesday, December 14
Voila, those are my best Premier League picks for Wednesday! If you agree with me, why not head straight to Betway and put some money on those bets?
Not only does this online sportsbook give amazing odds on Premier League games, but it also has an awesome feature called Bet Builder. You can use this option to spice things up by combining several bets in one.
I would use Bet Builder for the Manchester City vs. Leeds game, combining Manchester City Win with Over 2.5 Goals and Both Teams to Score. The odds on this would be around 3.43.
