Premier League Betting Preview and Picks for Round 16 Games on Sunday, December 12

If you’re thinking about making some Premier League bets this Sunday, you’re at the right place. This is where you can read my betting predictions for the following three games:
- Leicester City vs. Newcastle
- Burnley vs. West Ham
- Crystal Palace vs. Everton
These are the only three games that will take place on December 12, although four were originally scheduled. The story goes that the Brighton vs. Tottenham game was postponed by the Premier League officials due to the COVID-19 outbreak in the Spurs’ squad.
So, let’s forget about that game for the time being and focus on the remaining three matchups of Round 16.
Leicester City to Beat Newcastle
This is a must-win game for Leicester City, the reason being that their Premier League schedule is going to get ugly real soon. Some of the teams the Foxes will get to face before the end of the year include Tottenham, Manchester City, and Liverpool.
It’s very likely they won’t collect many points in those three games (if any), which is why getting all three against Newcastle is a priority.
Even though the Magpies are very low in the Premier League standings (second from the bottom), beating them isn’t going to be easy. The thing is that Leicester City looks very out of shape with two straight defeats.
The reason behind this is that Leicester’s locker room is half empty. For instance, seven of their players missed Thursday’s game with Napoli in the Europa League due to COVID-19 and will probably miss Sunday’s game as well.
The guys in question are:
- Daniel Amartey
- Filip Benkovic
- Kelechi Iheanacho
- Ademola Lookman
- Ayoze Perez
- Jannik Vestergaard
- Vontae Daley-Campbell
On top of that, Leicester will also miss three other players due to injuries, namely, Ricardo Pereira, James Justin, and Wesley Fofana.
The good news, however, is that their replacements look good enough to bring Leicester points in Round 16. Beating Newcastle won’t be easy, but I’m sure Leicester can do it.
If you don’t trust them to win, betting on a low number of goals seems like a good alternative.
Burnley and West Ham to Draw
The draw in the Burnley vs. West Ham game might not seem like the wisest betting option. At least, not at the first look.
On paper, the Hammers look like strong favorites. They’re 14 places above Burnley in the Premier League table, coming to the North of England after a win over Chelsea in the previous round.
However, I think they will fail to win again and there are several reasons for that. First of all, the game is played at Burnley’s stadium. Turf Moor is the place where Burnley won six of their ten points in the 2021-22 season.
Another reason why I don’t think the visitors will win is that they don’t seem to like playing against teams like Burnley. The thing is that Burnley plays a defensive-minded style of soccer, similar to Brighton, Wolves, and Southampton – all of which West Ham failed to beat this season.
Everton to Beat Crystal Palace
Last weekend, Everton finally put an end to their winless streak of eight Premier League games. They beat Arsenal 2-1 at home, which is something that’s certainly filled their players with confidence.
This Sunday, they have a seemingly easier task on their hands. They’re taking on Crystal Palace, a team with which they have a pretty good history. In fact, Everton is without a single loss to this opponent in their previous 13 meetings.
Still, scoring has been an issue for Everton against Crystal Palace. Actually, the Toffees scored two or more goals in only five of those matches. Does this mean Everton should be worried?
I don’t think so and the reason is that their best player, Brazilian striker Richarlison is back in top form. After missing four Premier League games in the early stages of the season, he made a comeback in October.

Although he did score in his first game upon returning, a goal drought then hit the talented forward. Luckily for Everton, Richarlison put an end to it last weekend when he scored against Arsenal.
Actually, he scored two more goals in that game but after a VAR check, both were disallowed due to offside.
