Predictions and Picks for MLS Games on Sunday, April 10 (2022)

| April 8, 2022 6:42 am PDT

Following Saturday’s jam-packed Major League Soccer schedule, we have just two MLS games to bet on this Sunday, April 10. Still, the intriguing matchups should provide us with plenty of opportunities to win money.

Before we go any further, let’s check out Sunday’s MLS schedule.

  • Charlotte FC vs. Atlanta United
  • Austin FC vs. Minnesota United

In the Eastern Conference, Charlotte FC will be looking to return to winning ways when Atlanta United visits Bank of America Stadium. Over in the West, Austin FC and Minnesota United are set to lock horns in Texas.

Read on to discover my MLS predictions and betting picks for Sunday, April 10.

Atlanta United to Beat Charlotte FC

It’s fair to say that Charlotte FC has made a satisfactory start to their inaugural Major League Soccer season. Although the newcomers lost four of their opening six games, they managed to beat New England and Cincinnati.

Karol Swiderski bagged a brace as Charlotte dispatched the Revs 3-1. The Polish DP netted a further two goals in the 2-0 win over Cincy, meaning he has scored four goals in five MLS outings.

Having taken six points from a possible 18, Miguel Angel Ramirez’s men find themselves ninth in the Eastern Conference. As it stands, five teams are below them – including the 2021 Supporters’ Shield winners and defending MLS Cup champions.

Meanwhile, Atlanta United occupies third place. The Five Stripes have lost just one of their five matches this season, picking up three wins and one draw along the way.

Following a 3-1 win against Sporting Kansas City on the opening weekend, the Georgia outfit lost to Colorado. However, they head into Sunday’s clash on a three-game unbeaten streak after taking seven points from their past three outings.

Although Charlotte has made a decent start to life in Major League Soccer, Atlanta should be too strong for the newcomers.

Austin FC and Minnesota United to Draw

Last season, Austin FC finished second from bottom in the Western Conference after suffering 21 defeats in 34 matches. Fast-forward to today – they find themselves in fourth place with five games in the books.

The Texans have lost only one of their five encounters in 2022, securing two wins and two draws in the process. Let’s not forget that they have already faced Portland and Seattle this year.

Josh Wolff’s boys kicked off their campaign with a 5-0 thrashing of Cincinnati before crushing Inter Miami 5-1 in Week 2. Following back-to-back draws, they will be eager to return to winning ways on Sunday.

Thanks to the exploits of players like Sebastian Driussi (4 goals, 1 assist) and Diego Fagundez (1 goal, 3 assists), the Texans are the joint-top scorers in the entire league. That’s an impressive achievement, given that they were the lowest scorers in the West last year.

On the flip side, Minnesota is coming off a 2-1 defeat to the Sounders. Despite racking up a whopping 18 shots last weekend, the Loons failed to make the most of their dominance.

Still, it is worth noting that Adrian Heath’s men have lost just one of their five matches this season. Having drawn with Philadelphia and Nashville, Minnesota sealed back-to-back shutout wins over RBNY and San Jose before the international break.

Since Austin and Minnesota are locked on eight points, I can see this game ending in a draw. Both sides have recorded two wins, two draws, and one loss this year, meaning Sunday’s clash should be a close-fought battle.

Best MLS Bets for Sunday, April 10

That’s it for my MLS predictions – but I’m not finished just yet. Here are my MLS picks for Sunday, April 10. You can find these prices at Betway.

  • Charlotte FC vs. Atlanta United – Atlanta United to Win (2.40)
  • Austin FC vs. Minnesota United – Over 2.5 Goals (1.72)

Although Charlotte beat New England and Cincinnati, there is no hiding the fact that Ramirez’s men have lost four of their six games this season. By contrast, the Five Stripes look like the real deal this year. I’m backing Atlanta to claim all three points this weekend.

I predicted that Austin and Minnesota will play out a draw on Sunday. However, the draw wager is always a risky option. Instead, I recommend opting for the over 2.5 goals market. Why? Because Austin’s clashes average 3.6 goals per game in 2022.

There are ten MLS games taking place on Saturday, April 9. If you enjoyed this post, why not check out my MLS predictions and picks for Saturday?
