Predictions and Picks for A-League Games – Wednesday, March 30, 2022

| March 29, 2022 3:51 am PDT

Following another eventual weekend of Australian soccer, there are three A-League games to bet on this Wednesday, March 30. Due to the congested nature of this season’s schedule, the clashes are coming thick and fast at the moment.

You will be pleased to learn that I will be sharing my A-League predictions for Wednesday in this post, along with my recommended betting picks. First, let’s take a look at the fixtures.

A-LEAGUE SCHEDULE (WEDNESDAY, MARCH 30, 2022)

  • Brisbane Roar vs. Wellington Phoenix
  • Sydney FC vs. Macarthur FC
  • Perth Glory vs. Newcastle Jets

In the early kick-offs, Brisbane hosts Wellington and Sydney FC hosts Macarthur. Perth and Newcastle will wrap up Wednesday’s action when they go head-to-head in Western Australia.

Are you ready for Wednesday’s A-League predictions and picks? It’s time to get this show on the road!

Wellington Phoenix to Beat Brisbane Roar

Last weekend, Brisbane’s season went from bad to worse. The Queenslanders suffered their tenth defeat in 17 A-League games, with Western United claiming a 3-2 victory at Moreton Daily Stadium.

Warren Moon’s boys have lost five of their previous seven matches. Worse still, they conceded at least two goals in each of those defeats. Given that statistic, you shouldn’t be shocked that Brisbane has the third-worst defensive record in the competition.

Meanwhile, Wellington beat Perth 2-1 last time out. Having suffered back-to-back losses in the lead-up to last weekend, the Yellow Army returned to winning ways at just the right time.

Not only have the Nix won three of their last six games, but they have also won six of their previous ten. As a result, they find themselves seventh on the A-League ladder – seven points clear of eleventh-place Brisbane.

I’m confident that Wellington will win this one.

Sydney FC and Macarthur FC to Draw

A solitary point separates fifth-place Macarthur and sixth-place Sydney FC in the A-League standings. Both sides have shown glimpses of promise this season, but they have also produced a number of below-par performances.

The Sky Blues have managed to win just two of their past eight outings, registering two draws and four losses in the process. It is worth noting that all of those defeats have come in their previous six matches.

As for the Bulls,
they have lost four of their last five games. When you look at the bigger picture, they have picked up only three wins in their previous 13 – collecting three draws and seven losses along the way.

Sydney FC and Macarthur will both be eager to avoid another defeat on Wednesday. With that in mind, I expect this clash to end in a draw.

Newcastle Jets to Beat Perth Glory

It wouldn’t be unfair to say that Newcastle has been one of the most inconsistent teams in the A-League this season. Having recorded six wins, three draws, and eight losses, they find themselves ninth on the ladder.

After suffering three straight defeats at the beginning of March, the Jets crushed Wellington 4-0 before beating Sydney FC 2-0 last time out. All of a sudden, they are searching for their third consecutive clean-sheet victory.

Thanks largely to the exploits of Beka Mikeltadze (9 goals, 2 assists) and Daniel Penha (2 goals, 10 assists), Arthur Papas’ men are the second-highest scorers in the comp.

By contrast, Perth has netted the fewest goals this season. Consequently, the Western Australians find themselves four points adrift at the bottom of the A-League ladder – and eight points behind Newcastle.

To make matters worse for the Glory,
their top scorer is away on international duty with the Socceroos. Bruno Fornaroli has netted seven of Perth’s 14 league goals this season, but he is unavailable for Wednesday’s clash.

Perth has managed to pick up just three wins in 17 games, suffering ten defeats in the process. I expect them to suffer another defeat against free-scoring Newcastle.

Top A-League Picks for Wednesday, March 30

That’s it for my A-League predictions – but I’m not finished just yet. Before I sign off, allow me to share my top betting picks for Wednesday’s A-League games with you.

The prices below are courtesy of Betway.

  • Brisbane Roar vs. Wellington Phoenix – Wellington Phoenix to Win (3.10)
  • Sydney FC vs. Macarthur FC – Both Teams to Score (1.66)
  • Perth Glory vs. Newcastle Jets – Over 2.5 Goals (1.72)

There is nothing complicated about my Brisbane vs. Wellington pick. The Roar (2.20) is favored to claim all three points on home soil, but I’m backing the Nix (3.10) to secure the win.

While the Queenslanders have lost five of their last seven games, the Kiwis have won six of their previous ten. That’s why I’m taking full advantage of the juicy price for the away victory.

Elsewhere, I expect both teams to score when Sydney FC (1.61) hosts Macarthur (4.75). Only two sides have scored more goals than Macarthur this season, but the Bulls also have the worst defensive record in the comp.

The over 2.5 goals wager is my Perth vs. Newcastle pick. Why? Because 15 of Newcastle’s 17 games have dished up at least three goals this season. Although the Jets are lethal in attack, they are seriously shaky at the back.
