Predictions and Picks for the 2022 Travelers Championship

The US Open brought a thrilling battle, with Matthew Fitzpatrick, Will Zalatoris, and Scottie Scheffler battling for the win. Zalatoris narrowly missed a birdie on the final hole, giving Fitzpatrick his first career PGA Tour victory.
The PGA Tour remains in the northeast for the Travelers Championship. TPC River Highlands in Connecticut will host the tournament for the 39th straight year.
It’s not a major, but many stars are in the field. It won’t be easy to make Travelers Championship picks. How will your golf pick look this week?
Best Travelers Championship Betting Sites
The Travelers Championship might not garner as much betting interest as the US Open, but it’s important to examine the best sites for the Travelers Championship odds.
I’m always looking at multiple sites before making my final decision. The Travelers Championship betting odds will come from BetUS. These sites had the early odds, but BetUS has the upper hand with props.
No matter which site you prefer, make sure you set up an account before making your golf predictions. I’d also recommend checking out the bonuses for each site. That’ll help with your sports betting outside of golf.
2022 Travelers Championship Betting Odds
I warned you there were multiple stars in the field. Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler have the best odds for the Travelers Championship. McIlroy scored his third top 10 in a major this season, while Scheffler came one shot short of his second major victory of the season.
There were high expectations for Justin Thomas and Xander Schauffele in the US Open, but neither player was in contention. Does your Travelers Championship prediction have them bouncing back?
The competitive field features a drop-off from Sam Burns to Jordan Spieth. I wouldn’t count out Spieth, as he’s a former winner at TPC River Highlands. Can he bounce back from a rough US Open?
It’ll be interesting to see how everyone performs after a major.
Best Travelers Championship Betting Picks
Jon Rahm was in contention for the US Open but couldn’t make a run in the final round. Take a look at my top 2022 Travelers Championship picks.
Rory McIlroy (+900)
Rory McIlroy has won PGA Tour Player of the Year three times and two FedEx Cup Championships. He has had a stellar career, but this stretch of golf may be the best of his career.
He missed the cut in the Valero Texas Open in late March. McIlroy finished 18th in the Memorial Tournament, but his other five starts since missing the cut have been nothing short of amazing.
- Masters Tournament: -7 (2nd)
- Wells Fargo Championship: -4 (5th)
- PGA Championship: -2 (8th)
- RBC Canadian Open: -19 (1st)
- US Open: -2 (5th)
My golf predictions may include McIlroy for the next month. He is playing so well that he should rack up a few more wins.
This will be McIlroy’s fourth start at TPC River Highlands. He has never finished top 10, but three finishes between 11th and 17th are nothing to worry about. He should improve upon that this year.
It’s not ideal to pick the favorite in a PGA Tour event, but why should you pick against McIlroy? He should be in contention for his first top 10 at TPC River Highlands.
Jordan Spieth (+2200)
The majors haven’t been kind to Jordan Spieth in 2022. He missed the cut at the Masters and finished outside the top 30 in the PGA Championship and US Open. Outside of majors, he has finished seventh or better in three of his last four starts.
Overall, TPC River Highlands hasn’t been the best course for Spieth. He hasn’t finished better than 40th in his last three starts. However, his 2017 performance earns him a spot in my Travelers Championship picks.
Spieth led entering the final round, but Daniel Berger forced a playoff. That led to this memorable moment.

Jordan Speith sinks it from the sand for birdie to win the sudden death playoff against Daniel Berger.

Spieth had a miraculous hole-out from the bunker on the first playoff hole to score the victory. It was shades of the 2013 John Deere Classic, when Spieth holed out to force a playoff.
The fans would love to see a miraculous shot like that this week, but Spieth would settle for a stress-free tournament. He could use one after a rough performance in the US Open.
Can Spieth replicate his 2017 performance? My golf picks would love to see another victory.
Value Picks for the Travelers Championship
I whiffed on my sleepers for the US Open, but Matthew Fitzpatrick scored the victory with (+3000) odds. Check out my top favorite value picks for the 2022 Travelers Championship.
Keegan Bradley (+3500)
Keegan Bradley may not have been the betting favorite for the US Open, but he was the hometown favorite after a Saturday charge. Bradley has a strong chance to win his second major after shooting 69 on Saturday.
He failed to mount a charge on Sunday, but his performance was impressive. It was a thrilling performance in front of his home crowd.
Keegan Bradley won his sole major, the PGA Championship, in 2011.
— bet365 (@bet365) June 19, 2022
For the last eight years he hasn't finished in the top 10.
All his life he has dreamed of playing in front of Boston fans.
With the home crowd behind him he finishes in the top 10.
An incredible story.#USOpen pic.twitter.com/S7NL2Xyyxz
People might not realize that Bradley has finished 11th or better in six of his last 11 starts. The US Open wasn’t a fluke, as my Travelers Championship predictions have him as a sleeper.
The Travelers Championship hasn’t brought him success lately, but we’ve seen him in contention. Bradley finished eighth in 2017 before scoring a runner-up finish in 2019. He was with Chez Reavie in the first two rounds, but a big third round made the difference.
Bradley has missed the cut in his last two starts at TPC River Highlands. He enters this year’s tournament with momentum. I believe the Travelers Championship odds are too low on Bradley.
Brian Harman (+6000)
Brian Harman has had his moments this season, but we’ve seen inconsistent play. He has three top 10 finishes but has finished outside the top 30 in seven of his last ten starts. Some may question my free Travelers Championship picks, but the top golf betting sites present value for Harman.
The Travelers Championship has been kind to Harman. He struggled in his first four starts but turned the corner in 2015. Check out his best finishes since that tournament.
- 2015: -15 (3rd)
- 2018: -13 (6th)
- 2019: -10 (8th)
- 2021: -10 (5th)
A missed cut in the 2020 tournament is the only blemish on his record at TPC River Highlands. Harman has come close to winning but hasn’t taken the next step. Will we see that in this year’s tournament?
He won’t enter the Travelers Championship as a top contender, but I wouldn’t count him out. He has shown he is capable of competing for wins. It wouldn’t surprise me if that happened this weekend.
2022 Travelers Championship: Best Props
Dustin Johnson fell four spots short of a top 20 finish, while my Rory McIlroy winning prop came up short. Will we have more success in the 2022 Travelers Championship?
Jason Day Over Brendan Steele (-105)
My Travelers Championship prop bets feature a matchup with Jason Day scoring a better finish than Brendan Steele. This should be an intriguing matchup as both players have been successful at TPC River Highlands.
However, Day earns the nod because of his recent success. He has finished 12th or better in three of his last four starts in this tournament. Steele missed the cut in two of his last four starts.
I like Day for the Travelers Championship, but he likely won’t compete for the win. It’s much safer to have him winning this matchup over Steele.
Kevin Streelman to Finish Top 20 (+500)
Kevin Streelman’s 2021-22 season has hit a rough patch. He has six straight finishes of 40th or worse, including four missed cuts. That doesn’t exude confidence, but I’m valuing his success in the Travelers Championship.
- 2011: -15 (6th)
- 2014: -14 (1st)
- 2017: -8 (8th)
- 2019: -8 (15th)
- 2020: -18 (2nd)
We’ve seen him in contention to win multiple times. He only has two career PGA Tour victories, with his most recent being the 2014 Travelers Championship. I doubt he’ll replicate that performance, but a top 20 finish is attainable.
Predicting Who Wins the 2022 Travelers Championship
I considered taking a sleeper for my Travelers Championship pick, but I’m taking the favorite with Rory McIlroy.
It’s tough to pick against McIlroy with this recent stretch. He hasn’t scored a top 10 finish at TPC River Highlands, but that shouldn’t stop him from competing for the win. We should see him have another strong performance.
