There are four A-League games to bet on this Saturday, March 12. Although all the games are important, the top-two clash between Western United and Melbourne City is undoubtedly the standout matchup.

In this post, I will be sharing my A-League predictions for Saturday’s games. Before we dive into my predictions, though, let’s take a look at Saturday’s A-League schedule in full.

  • Brisbane Roar vs. Wellington Phoenix
  • Macarthur FC vs. Western Sydney Wanderers
  • Western United vs. Melbourne City
  • Perth Glory vs. Sydney FC

Not only will I be providing my predictions, but I will also share my top A-League bets for Saturday’s matches. You will be pleased to learn that I have scoured the best A-League betting sites to find the top picks.

Ready? Let’s get this show on the road!

Wellington Phoenix to Beat Brisbane Roar

The Nix are enjoying a seemingly unstoppable hot streak at the moment. Following Wednesday’s 3-2 victory over Newcastle Jets, Wellington’s unbeaten run now stands at seven games.

The New Zealanders have picked up five wins and two draws since losing to Adelaide United on New Year’s Day. Let’s not forget that they also claimed an easy 3-0 win against Brisbane last month, underlining the gulf in quality between the two sides.

As for the Queenslanders, they find themselves rock bottom of the A-League ladder – ten points behind sixth-place Wellington – after losing eight of their 13 outings this season.

Warren Moon’s boys have lost five of their previous seven encounters and head into Saturday’s clash on a three-game losing streak. They look set to suffer a fourth straight defeat when in-form Wellington visits Moreton Daily Stadium.

Macarthur FC and Western Sydney Wanderers to Draw

Macarthur comes into the weekend on the back of 3-1 losses to Melbourne Victory and Melbourne City. Despite the best efforts of Apostolos Giannou, who scored in both games, the Bulls were well beaten on both occasions.

Ante Milicic’s men have won just two of their past ten matches, recording three draws and five losses in the process. They made a strong start to the campaign but appear to be heading in the wrong direction now.

In fairness, the Wanderers are also in a mess at the moment. Having lost exactly half of their A-League outings this season, they sit third from bottom in the standings.

That said, the Wanderers have improved since Mark Rudan replaced Carl Robinson in the CommBank Stadium hot seat. They have won two of their last four matches, so I can see them holding off-form Macarthur to a draw.

Western United and Melbourne City to Draw

There is absolutely no denying that Western United and Melbourne City have been the best teams in the A-League this season. I mean, they are locked on 32 points at the top of the standings – eight points clear of third-place Adelaide.

Granted, Western has two games in hand over City. But the defending champions have scored almost twice as many goals as Western. On the flip side, John Aloisi’s boys boast a far superior defensive record.

Both sides head into Saturday’s showdown in excellent form, too. While Western is enjoying an eight-match unbeaten streak, Patrick Kisnorbo’s men have won six of their previous eight.

In my eyes, the draw is the best bet for Western United vs. Melbourne City. Although the reigning champs are flying at the moment, Western’s backline is the best in the comp by a considerable margin.

Perth Glory to beat Sydney FC

While Western and City are battling at the top of the A-League ladder, Perth Glory and Sydney FC languishing in the bottom half. Seventh-place Sydney FC leads eleventh-place Perth by six points, but the Glory has three games in hand.

The Sky Blues have failed to win any of their last five encounters and are currently enduring a three-game losing run. It is also worth remembering that Sydney FC lost 2-1 to Perth back in January.

As for the Western Australians, they are four matches without a win. That said, they managed to hold Melbourne City to a 2-2 draw earlier this month and were unlucky to suffer a 2-1 loss to Adelaide last time out.

With the home-field advantage on their side, Richard Garcia’s men will be confident of inflicting a fourth straight defeat on struggling Sydney FC this weekend.

Top A-League Betting Picks for Saturday, March 12

Brisbane Roar vs. Wellington Phoenix – Wellington Phoenix to Win3.20
Macarthur FC vs. Western Sydney Wanderers – Both Teams to Score1.70
Western United vs. Melbourne City – Under 2.5 Goals2.10
Perth Glory vs. Sydney FC – Under 2.5 Goals1.91

Wellington’s price to beat Brisbane is far too tasty to ignore. I mean, the Nix have won five and drawn two of their last seven games. By contrast, the Queenslanders have lost five of their previous seven.

I’m backing both teams to score when Macarthur hosts Western Sydney. Only two teams have netted more goals than Milicic’s men this season, but they also have the second-worst defensive record in the comp.

Although the defending champions are the top scorers, Western has conceded a measly 12 goals this season. Aloisi’s boys have also kept eight clean sheets in 15 outings, meaning their clash with City should be a low-scoring affair.

I also recommend opting for the under 2.5 goals market for the match between Perth and Sydney FC. Why? Because nine of the Glory’s 13 games have produced less than three goals this season.
