There are three A-League games to bet on this Wednesday, February 23. The top-four battle between Western United and Sydney FC is undoubtedly the standout clash, but the other two contests are also intriguing.

Newcastle Jets and Western Sydney Wanderers are both in desperate need of points as they prepare to go head-to-head. Elsewhere, Perth Glory will aim to chase down the Bulls when they lock horns in Tasmania.

In this piece, I will be providing my A-League predictions for Wednesday, February 23. Once my predictions are out of the way, I will share my recommended A-League betting picks for all three games.

This clash brings together two of the A-League’s bottom five. Eleventh-place Newcastle sits one point behind eighth-place Western Sydney, although Newcastle has two games in hand on Western Sydney.

It is also worth noting that each of the last two meetings between Newcastle and Western Sydney have ended in a draw, meaning three of the previous four encounters have not produced a winner.

You get the picture, right? The draw is definitely the most probable outcome of this matchup.

At the opposite end of the standings, Western United and Sydney FC find themselves among the early frontrunners. Western sits atop the A-League ladder on 23 points, while fourth-place Sydney FC has 18 points in the bank.

Western heads into Wednesday’s clash on a five-game unbeaten streak, having dispatched the Wanderers 3-2 on Sunday. John Aloisi’s men have collected three wins and two draws from their past five outings.

That said, the Sky Blues will fancy their chances of disrupting Western’s title charge. Having claimed two wins and three draws since their last loss, they will be confident of avoiding defeat on Wednesday.

However, Sydney FC has only managed to keep two clean sheets in 13 league games this season. The 2020 champions have conceded at least one goal in each of their previous seven outings, so I’m backing Western to come out on top.

Following a slow start to the campaign, Perth appears to be heading in the right direction. The Western Australians lost four of their opening seven matches but have since secured four points from their last two outings.

After drawing with Central Coast Mariners, the Glory beat Brisbane Roar 2-0 on Sunday. Bruno Fornaroli bagged a brace down in Tasmania, taking his tally for the season to five goals in eight A-League appearances.

It is worth pointing out, however, that Saturday’s victory ended a five-game winless run for the Bulls. They won four of their opening five matches but have struggled for consistency in 2022.

Having taken everything into consideration, I can see this clash ending in a draw. Both sides appear to be getting back on track following a difficult period, meaning they should be happy to settle for a point apiece.

Now that you’ve had my A-League predictions, it’s time to dive into my top A-League betting picks for Wednesday, February 23.

With that in mind, the over 2.5 goals market is undoubtedly the best bet for Newcastle Jets vs. Western Sydney Wanderers. Arthur Papas’ men love to attack, but they can’t seem to keep the ball out of their own net.

Priced at 2.50, Sydney FC is the marginal favorite to beat Western United. But given that Aloisi’s men find themselves five points clear of the Sky Blues, I’m backing them to secure their fourth victory in six games on Wednesday.

Granted, the Bulls are the third-highest scorers in the comp. But since the Western Australians boast the best defensive record, I expect Perth Glory vs. Macarthur FC to be a low-scoring affair.
