Prediction for Charlotte FC vs. New York Red Bulls (MLS) – Saturday, June 11, 2022

Due to the international break, there are only three Major League Soccer games this weekend. On Saturday, June 11, Charlotte FC and the New York Red Bulls get the action underway at Bank of America Stadium.
This will be Charlotte’s first game without Miguel Angel Ramirez, who was fired after just 14 games in charge of the expansion side. How will the MLS newcomers fare under interim head coach Christian Lattanzio?
As for the Red Bulls, they find themselves fourth in the Eastern Conference – seven points clear of eighth-place Charlotte. A win on Saturday would take them level with first-place New York City. Incentives don’t get much bigger than that.
Keep reading to discover my Charlotte FC vs. New York Red Bulls prediction and betting pick. Before we get to my prediction and pick, we need to assess the odds for Saturday’s showdown.
Charlotte FC vs. New York Red Bulls Odds
BetOnline views Charlotte FC (+210) as the underdog for Saturday’s clash. Regardless of the home-field advantage, the North Carolinians are expected to play second fiddle to the New York Red Bulls (+120)
RBNY heads into this game as the bookmakers’ favorite, having suffered just three defeats in 14 MLS outings this year. The New Yorkers have tied five games, though, making the juicy price for the draw (+230) stand out here.
You can find my prediction for Charlotte vs. Red Bulls a little later. First, it’s time to take a closer look at both sides.
Will Charlotte Upset the MLS Odds?
It’s safe to say that the sacking of Miguel Angel Ramirez came as a big shock. Granted, the newcomers didn’t make a flying start to life in Major League Soccer. But they didn’t make a bad start, either.
The club’s inaugural head coach was fired after just 14 games, having overseen five wins, one draw, and eight losses. Although Charlotte sits two points outside the playoff places, the hierarchy believed a change was needed.
CLTFC began life in MLS with three straight losses, but a subsequent run of three wins in four games swiftly steadied the ship. After dispatching New England, Cincinnati, and Atlanta, things were looking up.
Interim head coach Christian Lattanzio will lead the team against the Red Bulls. The Italian was the assistant coach at New York City between 2016 and 2018 before taking on a similar role at Ligue 1 side OGC Nice.
In all honesty, it is difficult to predict how Charlotte will fare under Lattanzio. The 50-year-old has been around the block, but does he have what it takes to lead an MLS team?
Can the Red Bulls Continue to Climb?
The Red Bulls head into Saturday’s clash on the back of a big 4-1 victory over DC United. Luquinhas bagged a brace in the rout, while Lewis Morgan also found the back of the net.
Luquinhas has racked up five goals and five assists since moving from Legia Warszawa, while Morgan has scored seven goals following his transfer from Inter Miami. Needless to say, they are proving to be excellent acquisitions.
Thanks largely to the exploits of Luquinhas and Morgan, RBNY is among the top scorers in the East. In fact, only two sides have netted more goals than Gerhard Struber’s men.
The Reds have lost just one of their last eight MLS outings, picking up three wins and four draws in the process. When you look at the bigger picture, they have suffered three defeats in 14 games this season.
Only two teams in the East have won more games than Struber’s men, while only one side has registered fewer losses. That tells you everything you need to know about how RBNY’s season is going.
Charlotte FC vs. New York Red Bulls Prediction
As I already mentioned, it is difficult to predict how Charlotte will perform following Ramirez’s sacking. The players will surely be eager to impress their new coach, but they need time to adapt to the new tactics.
By contrast, the Reds Bulls are on a roll. Not only have they lost just one of their last eight MLS games, but they have also dispatched a host of top teams this year. Oh, and they also knocked Charlotte out of the US Open Cup.
The North Carolinians will be desperate to give a good account of themselves on Saturday, but that won’t be easy against high-flying RBNY – especially if Luquinhas and Morgan continue to chalk up goals and assists.
Betting Pick for Charlotte vs. New York Red Bulls
-
New York Red Bulls to Win+120
It is difficult to make a case for Charlotte here, so I’m backing BRNY to claim all three points on Saturday. The Red Bulls find themselves seven points clear of CLTFC – and they can move level with NYCFC with a win.
