Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Tennessee Titans – NFL, October 4, 2020
A couple of undefeated teams will take on each other in Week 4 of the 2020 NFL season, as the Pittsburgh Steelers travel to Nissan Stadium in Nashville to meet the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, October 4.
Some of you might be surprised by the Steelers and Titans’ early success in 2020, but these two AFC foes fully deserved to stay unbeaten through the first three weeks of the season. We’ll see a great game Sunday in Tennessee with kick-off at 1:00 PM ET, so here’s my best Steelers vs. Titans betting pick for Week 4.
Steelers vs. Titans Odds
The Steelers and Titans haven’t met each other since 2017 when Pittsburgh dismantled Tennessee 40-17 at Heinz Field. However, things have changed lately, and the Titans reached the AFC championship game last season, while the Steelers couldn’t make it to the playoffs.
The visitors opened as slight 1-point favorites in this one, but I suggest you forget about the paltry spread and focus on the moneyline odds.
Pittsburgh Steelers Team Analysis
After missing 14 games in 2019, Ben Roethlisberger returned to the field in style, leading his team to three straight victories this September. Big Ben tossed for 777 yards, seven touchdowns, and just one interception, proving that his presence is essential for this Pittsburgh team.
The Steelers are coming off a 28-21 home victory over the Houston Texans this past Sunday. James Conner carried the pigskin 18 times for 109 yards and a TD, surpassing a 100-yard mark on the ground for the second straight game.
Pittsburgh’s defense has been labeled as one of the toughest in football, and the Steelers are yielding 19.3 points per game (5th in the NFL) on 54.0 rushing yards (1st) and 236.0 passing yards (12th).
Tennessee Titans Team Analysis
The Titans have won each of their first three games by three or fewer points, but I’m pretty sure their fans don’t care at all, as long as their beloved team continues to beat their rivals.
Tennessee visited Minnesota in Week 3 and escaped with a 31-30 win thanks to six field goals by Stephen Gostkowski. Ryan Tannehill had another good game, tossing for 321 yards and a TD, while Derrick Henry exploded for 119 yards and a couple of scores on 26 carries.
The Titans struggled defensively, allowing 464 total yards to the Vikings. Their ground defense surrendered 226 rushing yards, so Tennessee head coach Mike Vrabel will have a busy week trying to solve some obvious problems.
Steelers vs. Titans Pick
I cannot wait to see Derrick Henry against the Steelers’ defense. Back in Week 1, Pittsburgh limited Saquon Barkley and the Giants to only 29 rushing yards. Henry is a great danger, but the Steelers will have a clear plan on how to deal with him.
Since 2013, the Steelers have been selecting exclusively defensive players with their first-rounders. Their defense looks terrifying, and I don’t expect Derrick Henry and the Titans to make a lot of damage this Sunday.
Still, I expect to see a much better defensive job by the Titans. They have a talented group of players, too, so I’m backing the under on the totals when the Titans welcome the Steelers this Sunday.
Interestingly, the over is 4-1 in the last five encounters between Pittsburgh and Tennessee, and it is 6-1 in Tennessee’s last seven showings at home, but the under has hit in eight of the Steelers’ previous 11 outings.
