Pimlico Race Course Picks – Saturday, September 26, 2020

Thoroughbred racing at Pimlico Race Course continues for Saturday with a ten-race card of maiden, claiming, and allowance races. This is all part of Pimlico’s “Preakness Meet” which culminates October 3rd with Stakes Day—12 stakes races headlined, of course, by the 145th Preakness Stakes.
While I cover today’s three richest races at Pimlico, you can always find the full slate of matches, including entries, jockeys, and wagering options, at any of our recommended horse racebooks.
Read on for my tips, picks, and predictions for Pimlico Race Course for Saturday, September 26, 2020.
Pick for Pimlico Race 6
This is an allowance race for fillies and mares three years old and upward running a distance of five furlongs on turf for a purse of $42,000.
I like the 6/1 underdog Magical Anna, with Lauralea Glaser in the irons. This three-year-old filly moneyed four of her seven career starts, winning two of them. Also, while Glaser is newer to the jockey game than some of her competitors, she is having a very good year.
None of the longer-odds entries look capable of a paycheck in this race, so we’ll keep our long money in our wallets.
- Win: Magical Anna 6/1
Picks for Pimlico Race 8
This is an allowance optional claiming race for three-year-olds and upward running a distance of five furlongs on turf for a purse of $45,000.
I like the 3/1 morning line favorite in this race: Bull Shark, with top jockey Trevor McCarthy aboard. This four-year-old colt moneyed all four of his career starts, three of them wins.
At 15/1, Missin the Big Dog, with Israel O. Rodriguez in the irons, is a slender but probable value show ticket. This five-year-old moneyed 15 of his 23 career starts, winning four of them.
- Win: Bull Shark 3/1
- Show: Missin the Big Dog 15/1
Picks for Pimlico Race 10
This is an allowance race for fillies and mares three years old and upward running a distance of 1-1/8 miles on turf for a purse of $42,000.
I like one of the 8/1 underdogs in this race—Curly Ruth, piloted by Trever McCarthy. This three-year-old filly moneyed two of her three career starts, winning one, which is more than I can say about some of the other horses the morning line fancies.
At 15/1, you might want to drop a show bet on RV Treasure, ridden by Horacio Karamanos. This three-year-old moneyed three of her six starts, winning one.
- Win: Curly Ruth 8/1
- Show: RV Treasure 15/1
