Picks and Predictions for USL Championship Games on Wednesday, July 13 (2022)

The USL Championship action continues this Wednesday, July 13, with two tasty matchups on the schedule. Today, I will be taking you through my USL Championship predictions for Wednesday – as well as my recommended betting picks.

Here is Wednesday’s USLC schedule.

Charleston Battery will aim to snap a four-game losing streak when they visit Miami FC in the early kick-off. Elsewhere, in-form New Mexico United will travel east to do battle with FC Tulsa in Oklahoma.

It’s time to dive into my USLC predictions for Wednesday, July 13.

Can Charleston upset the USL Championship odds against Miami? Who will come out on top when Tulsa hosts New Mexico? I attempt to answer those questions below.

As I already mentioned, Charleston heads into Wednesday’s clash on a four-game losing run – having suffered defeats to FC Tulsa (2-1), Atlanta United 2 (4-3), San Antonio (2-0), and Birmingham Legion (3-0),

To make matters worse for the South Carolinians, they have lost nine of their previous 12 outings. During that period, they conceded over 1.5 goals on nine occasions.

When you look at the bigger picture, Charleston has managed to pick up just two wins in 18 USLC games this year – recording three draws and 13 losses along the way. As a result, the South Carolinians have the second-lowest points haul in the league.

On the flip side, Miami sits seventh in the Eastern Conference – 15 points clear of thirteenth-place Charleston. Anthony Pulis’ men have registered six wins, six draws, and seven defeats this season.

Although the Floridians find themselves 15 points behind first-place Louisville City, they remain on course to secure a playoff berth. Needless to say, Charleston’s playoff hopes ended a long time ago.

It is worth noting that Miami thrashed the South Carolinians 4-0 last year before beating them by the same score earlier this season. You probably won’t be surprised to learn that I’m backing Pulis’ men to make light work of Charleston on Wednesday.

These two sides are separated by eight points in the overall standings, with New Mexico United leading FC Tulsa. While Tulsa sits eighth in the Eastern Conference, New Mexico occupies sixth place in the Western Conference.

The Oklahomans have lost ten of their 20 league games this year, picking up six wins and four draws in the process. Only the bottom three teams in the East have suffered more defeats in 2022.

By contrast, New Mexico boasts the joint-best defensive record in the entire league. Zach Prince’s boys have conceded a measly 14 goals in 17 games, achieving multiple shutouts along the way.

Only Eastern Conference leader Louisville City and Western Conference leader San Antonio have conceded the same number of goals as Prince’s boys. That tells you everything you need to know about their defensive solidity.

The New Mexicans have lost just one of their previous 11 encounters, securing six wins and four draws in the process. They even managed to chalk up a five-game winning streak across May and June.

Better still, they have only suffered three defeats this year. No team in the entire league has registered fewer losses than New Mexico in 2022. Having recorded five wins, two draws, and one loss on their travels this season, I can Prince’s boys crushing Tulsa.
