Following an exciting batch of midweek fixtures, the USL Championship returns this weekend. On Saturday, June 18, the second tier of US soccer dishes up nine games for us to get our teeth into.

Today, I will be providing my USL Championship predictions for Saturday, June 18, along with a handful of top betting picks. Before we dive into those predictions and picks, let’s check out the schedule.

The top two in the Western Conference – Colorado Spring Switchbacks and San Antonio – are locked on 30 points. Both teams are in action on Saturday, but can either side break away?

Over in the Eastern Conference, Louisville City, Tampa Bay Rowdies, and Pittsburgh Riverhounds will all be looking to close the gap on first-place Memphis 901. The team from Tennessee is not in action this weekend.

Allow me to take you through my USL Championship predictions for Saturday, June 18. I have decided to cover four standout matchups in detail. I will then share the rest of my predictions for the USL Championship games on Saturday.

Tampa Bay heads into Saturday’s clash against Charleston Battery on the five-game unbeaten run, having claimed four wins and one draw. Consequently, the Rowdies find themselves third in the Eastern Conference – three points behind first-place Memphis.

At the opposite end of the standings, Charleston sits second from bottom – 18 points behind Tampa Bay. Having recorded just two wins in 13 league games this year, Conor Casey’s side looks set to suffer another defeat against the high-flying Rowdies.

Louisville went unbeaten across the opening ten rounds this season before suffering three losses in four games. Still, the Boys in Purple remain just two points behind Memphis in the East.

Despite their recent setback, Danny Cruz’s boys boast the joint-best defensive record in the conference. They are also the second-highest scorers, having netted 27 goals in 14 games (1.9 goals per game).

In my eyes, this matchup provides Louisville with the ideal opportunity to return to winning ways and get back on track.

It’s safe to say that Colorado Spring has enjoyed a hugely impressive season up to now. Indeed, the Western Conference leaders have won ten of their 12 games in 2022 – including five of their previous six.

Despite playing one game more, Indy Eleven has nine points fewer than Colorado Springs. The Boys in Blue have been one of the most inconsistent teams in the USL Championship this season, so I can see them struggling to deal with the in-form Switchbacks.

San Antonio heads into the weekend on a run of three wins in four games, having dispatched Miami (2-0), Rio Grande (3-2), and Monterey Bay (3-2) in recent weeks. As a result, they find themselves level with Colorado Springs atop the West.

By contrast, only one team in the West has picked up fewer wins than Oakland this year. The Roots have only managed to win four of their 17 matches, accumulating a league-high eight draws along the way.

You probably won’t be surprised to learn that I’m backing San Antonio to claim all three points this weekend.

I can see both Detroit City vs. El Paso Locomotive and Loudoun City vs. Phoenix Rising ending in a draw. Detroit and El Paso are separated by a single point, while Loudoun and Phoenix are both in horrible form.

Elsewhere, I’m backing Atlanta United 2 and Sacramento Republic to win one home soil. I’m also backing the Pittsburgh Riverhounds to secure a road victory over Rio Grande.

I have scoured the best soccer betting sites to find the top USL Championship picks for Saturday, June 18. Without further ado, here are my selections.

This season, Atlanta United 2 has been involved in more high-scoring games than any other team in the Eastern Conference. Ten of their 14 games have produced three or more goals, so I can see them combining for the over 2.5 goals with Hartford.

Across all competitions, all of Sacramento’s past nine games have dished up under 2.5 goals. Unsurprisingly, I expect their clash against LA Galaxy II to be a low-scoring affair.
