Picks and Predictions for USL Championship Games on Saturday, July 9 (2022)

The USL Championship action continues this Saturday, July 9, with a whopping 12 clashes on the schedule. Thanks to the high volume of games, there is no shortage of USL Championship betting opportunities to take advantage of.

Before we jump into my USL Championship predictions for Saturday, let’s check out the fixture list.

It’s top against bottom in the Eastern Conference, as high-flying Louisville City hosts struggling New York Red Bulls II. Over in the West, we have an all-California showdown between San Diego Loyal and LA Galaxy II to enjoy.

Read on to unearth my USLC predictions for Saturday, as well as my recommended betting picks.

Here are Saturday’s USL Championship predictions. First, I will take an in-depth look at three standout matchups. I will then share the rest of my USCL predictions for Saturday.

Indy Eleven heads into Saturday’s clash against Detroit City on a four-game losing streak. Following defeats to Colorado Springs, San Diego, Miami, and Pittsburgh, Le Rouge has dropped to eighth in the Eastern Conference.

When you look at the bigger picture, Trevor James’ men have managed to win just two of their past nine outings – registering one draw and five losses. During that period, they conceded 19 goals (2.1 goals per game).

Only three sides in the East have conceded fewer goals than Detroit this year. Boasting one of the meanest backlines in the league, Detroit shouldn’t struggle to overcome off-form Indy Eleven.

Louisville occupies first place in the East after suffering just three defeats in 17 games. At the opposite end of the standings, the Baby Bulls find themselves rock bottom with a solitary win to their name in 2022.

As a result, LouCity holds a mammoth 30-point lead over RBNY II. There is no bigger gulf between two teams in the entire USL Championship.

With all that in mind, you probably won’t be surprised to learn that I’m backing Louisville to cruise to a comfortable victory on Saturday. At the end of the day, LouCity is on a totally different level to RBNY II right now.

San Diego Loyal is one of the USL Championship’s in-form teams at the moment. Indeed, only two teams have picked up more points across the past five rounds.

Meanwhile, LA Galaxy II occupies seventh place. Although Yoann Damet’s men are four places below the Loyal, they trail their Californian rivals by seven points.

It is also worth noting that Damet’s men have suffered twice as many defeats as San Diego this year. If everything goes to plan on Saturday, Donovan’s boys should come away with all three points in the bag.

I’m backing Pittsburgh, Memphis, New Mexico, Orange County, and Sacramento to win on home soil this weekend. Elsewhere, I’m confident that Tampa Bay and Birmingham will taste victory on their travels.

I can see both FC Tulsa vs. Atlanta United 2 and El Paso Locomotive vs. Colorado Springs Switchbacks ending in a draw. Tulsa and Atlanta are separated by just four points, while El Paso leads Colorado Springs by six.

You can’t go wrong with the odds for the Pittsburgh and Memphis wins. I really like the look of the Riverhounds’ price, given that they have won each of their previous two outings.

Tulsa and Atlanta have played a combined total of 38 USLC games this year, 20 of which have produced over 3.5 goals. Since each of Atlanta’s past four games have dished up over 3.5 goals, this is destined to be a high-scoring encounter.

In my eyes, the BTTS wager is the best bet for Orange County vs. Monterey Bay. Both teams have scored in 15 of Orange County’s 18 league games this season (83%), while Monterey Bay has the worst defensive record in the West.
