Picks and Predictions for Serie A Round 33 – April 15-18 (2022)
Welcome to my Serie A predictions and picks for Round 33. Although the end of the 2022 season is on the horizon, there are still plenty of Serie A betting opportunities to take advantage of.
Before we go any further, here is the Round 33 Serie A schedule.
- Spezia vs. Inter Milan
- AC Milan vs. Genoa
- Cagliari vs. Sassuolo
- Udinese vs. Empoli
- Sampdoria vs. Salernitana
- Fiorentina vs. Venezia
- Juventus vs. Bologna
- Lazio vs. Torino
- Napoli vs. Roma
- Atalanta vs. Hella Verona
With AC Milan (68), Inter Milan (66), and Napoli (66) separated by just two points at the top of the Serie A standings, the race for the scudetto is far from over. Even Juventus (62) stands an outside chance of regaining the title.
You will be pleased to learn that I have scoured the best Serie A betting sites to find the top picks for this weekend. First, let’s go over my Round 33 Serie A predictions.
AC Milan to Beat Genoa
AC Milan heads into Round 33 on a 12-game unbeaten streak across all competitions. When you look at the bigger picture, Stefano Pioli’s men have lost just one of their previous 18 encounters.
Since January, the Rossoneri has dispatched title rivals such as Inter and Napoli to cement top spot in the Serie A standings. With potentially tricky games against Lazio, Fiorentina, Atalanta, and Sassuolo still to come, Milan will be eager to get past Genoa.
Genoa suffered a 4-1 thrashing against Lazio last weekend. Given the gulf between Genoa and Milan, I expect a similar result this weekend.
Sassuolo to Beat Cagliari
Sassuolo claimed an impressive 2-1 victory over Atalanta last time out, notching their fifth win in seven games. As a result, they come into Round 33 in ninth place – seven points inside the top half.
Only two sides – Inter and Lazio – have netted more goals than Sassuolo this season. Thanks largely to the attacking exploits of Domenico Berardi, Alessio Dionisi’s men are among the top scorers in the league.
- Domenico Berardi, Sassuolo – 14 goals/14 assists (28)
- Ciro Immobile, Lazio – 24 goals/3 assists (27)
- Dusan Vlahovic, Juventus – 22 goals/5 assists (27)
By contrast, only the bottom three teams have scored fewer goals than Cagliari. To make matters worse for the Islanders, they have the second-worst defensive record in Serie A – having conceded 61 goals in 32 games.
Cagliari suffered five straight defeats between early March and early April. During that period, they conceded 13 goals while scoring just two in reply. I’m confident that free-scoring Sassuolo will beat the struggling Sardinians without any problems.
Fiorentina to Beat Venezia
It wouldn’t be unfair to say that Venezia is in a real mess at the moment. Not only have Paolo Zanetti’s boys lost each of their last six games, but they have also won just one of their previous 18.
Due to their wretched run, they find themselves in the relegation zone. Only last-place Salernitana has recorded more losses this season, while only the bottom two sides have scored fewer goals.
Seventh-place Fiorentina now sits just two points outside the European spots. Given the 31-point gulf between La Viola and Venezia, a comfortable home win is on the cards here.
More Serie A Predictions for Round 33
Are you ready for the rest of the Round 33 Serie A predictions? Let’s go over the other seven games.
- Inter Milan to Beat Spezia
- Udinese to Beat Empoli
- Sampdoria to Beat Salernitana
- Juventus to Beat Bologna
- Lazio and Torino to Draw
- Napoli to Beat Roma
- Atalanta and Hellas Verona to Draw
Inter should make light work of Spezia on Friday. Elsewhere, I expect in-form Udinese to see off Empoli and Sampdoria to dispatch lowly Salernitana. I’m also confident that Juventus will get the better of Bologna.
I can see Torino holding Lazio to a draw in Saturday’s late kick-off. On Monday, scudetto-chasing Napoli should beat Roma. Eighth-place Atalanta and tenth-place Hellas Verona are separated by six points, so I can see them playing out a draw.
My Round 33 Serie A Picks
It’s time to check out the top Serie A picks for Round 33. I have taken these odds from Betway.
- AC Milan vs. Genoa – AC Milan Handicap –1 (1.95)
- Cagliari vs. Sassuolo – Sassuolo to Win (2.30)
- Lazio vs. Torino – Over 2.5 Goals (1.90)
Milan is priced at 1.30 to beat Genoa (11.00). The Rossoneri is among the top scorers in the league, while Genoa has one of the worst defensive records. That’s why I’m backing Milan to win by two clear goals.
I’m not sure why Sassuolo is priced at 2.30 to beat Cagliari (2.87). While Sassuolo has picked up five wins and seven games, Cagliari has suffered five consecutive losses. I recommend jumping on this wager before the bookmakers change their minds!
This season, 25 of Lazio’s 32 Serie A games have produced over 2.5 goals. The Eagles are priced at 1.65 to beat Torino (5.50), but I think the over 2.5 goals wager offers greater value.
