Let’s start with the Round 3 Liga MX odds and work our way through the rest.

Liga MX Odds for Round 3

  • Club America (-182) vs. Deportivo Toluca (+425)
  • Club Puebla (+150) vs. Club Leon (+187)
  • FC Juarez (+115) vs. Queretaro (+230)
  • Atlas (+120) vs. Cruz Azul (+230)
  • Santos Laguna (+130) vs. Chivas Guadalajara (+200)
  • Pumas UNAM (+125) vs. Necaxa (+210)
  • Atletico San Luis (+220) vs. Monterrey (+120)
  • Tigres UANL (-223) vs. Club Tijuana (+600)
  • Pachuca (-163) vs. Mazatlan (+425)

According to the Liga MX odds at Betway, Club America, Tigres UANL, and Pachuca are the heavy home favorites for Round 3. Club Puebla, FC Juarez, Atlas, Santos Laguna, and Pumas UNAM are also favored to win on home soil.

As you can see, Monterrey is the only away favorite here. Betway believes that Victor Manuel Vucetich’s men will have the upper hand over Atletico San Luis on Sunday.

Round 3 Liga MX Predictions

Are you ready for my Liga MX predictions for Round 3? Without further ado, let’s get this show on the road!

Club Puebla to Beat Club Leon

With two games in the books, Club Puebla is one of only three teams with a 100% record. After thrashing Mazatlan 4-2 on the opening weekend, Puebla claimed a 1-0 victory over Santos Laguna last time out.

Having already racked up five goals and a clean sheet across their first two Apertura clashes, Nicolas Larcamon’s boys will be confident of overcoming Club Leon on Friday.

As for the Green Bellies, they kicked off their campaign with a 2-1 win against Atletico San Luis before drawing 3-3 with Pumas UNAM in the previous round. As a result, they find themselves two points behind Puebla.

Don’t get me wrong – Leon is not a bad team. But given Puebla’s flying start to the season, I’m confident that Larcamon’s boys will extend their winning streak to three games.

FC Juarez to Beat Queretaro

Queretaro sits rock bottom of the standings after suffering back-to-back defeats. Following a 2-0 loss to Pachuca in Round 1, the White Roosters suffered a 2-1 defeat to Necaxa.

Let’s not forget that Queretaro finished third from bottom in the Clausura 2022 standings. If they carry on the way they’re going, Mauro Gerk’s men will almost certainly miss out on the playoffs once again.

At the opposite end of the standings,
FC Juarez sits fourth – four points clear of Queretaro. Los Bravos have yet to taste defeat this season, recording a goalless draw with Guadalajara Chivas before beating Club Tijuana 2-0 last weekend.

Better still, Juarez is the only side that has yet to concede a goal in the Apertura 2022. Having achieved back-to-back shutouts, Los Bravos will fancy their chances of dispatching struggling Queretaro.

Pachuca to Beat Mazatlan

Pachuca joins Deportivo Toluca and Club Puebla atop the standings after kicking off the campaign with two wins. Guillermo Almada’s boys have already seen off Queretaro (2-0) and Cruz Azul (2-1) this season.

It is worth noting that Los Tuzos racked up a whopping 35 shots across their opening two games – 17 against Queretaro and 18 against Cruz Azul. With Nicolas Ibanez leading the line, Pachuca is a serious threat.

By contrast, Mazatlan sits second from bottom following two successive defeats. The Gunners were thrashed 4-2 by Puebla in Round 1 before suffering a 1-0 loss to Tigres UANL in Round 2.

Mazatlan finished twelfth in the Clausura 2022 standings – 17 points behind first-place Pachuca. If the early stages of the Apertura 2022 are anything to go by, we could see a similar gulf between the teams this season.

Remaining Liga MX Predictions for Round 3

  • Club America to Beat Deportivo Toluca
  • Atlas to Beat Cruz Azul
  • Santos Laguna to Beat Chivas Guadalajara
  • Pumas UNAM and Necaxa
  • Monterrey to Beat Atletico San Luis
  • Tigres UANL to Beat Club Tijuana

The rest of my Round 3 Liga MX predictions are relatively straightforward. I’m backing Club America, Atlas, Santos Laguna, and Tigres UANL to win on home soil. I’m also backing Monterrey to win on the road.

I expect twelfth-place Pumas UNAM and eleventh-place Necaxa to play out a draw on Sunday. With the teams separated by a solitary point in the standings, this is destined to be a close-fought battle.

Top Liga MX Picks for Round 3

  • Club Puebla vs. Club Leon – Club Leon to Win (+150)
  • Atletico San Luis vs. Monterrey – Over 2.5 Goals (+100)
  • Tigres UANL vs. Club Tijuana – Tigres UANL (-1) (+130)

Betway’s price for Puebla to beat Leon is certainly worth taking advantage of. Larcamon’s boys head into Round 3 on the back of two straight wins, so I expect them to dispatch Leon.

Monterrey kicked off the campaign with a wild 4-3 loss to Santos before beating America 3-2 last time out. Having scored and conceded six goals already this season, Monterrey’s clash with Atletico should be a high-scoring affair.

UANL is priced at -223 to beat Tijuana. Since the Tigers boast one of the meanest attacks in the league, I recommend throwing the -1 handicap into the mix to boost the odds to +130.
